Why Early Access?

“We are a small indie studio with a vision to create a virtual instrument where players can play, create and explore musical ideas. Musical Range is a new concept never before possible until Virtual Reality, and as such, ideas and challenges pop up everywhere and we want our community to help us to expand and explore the main idea behind the game.

We want to bring players into a unique and amazing musical experience on VR. We know that to achieve this, we need to listen to our early adopters and make adjustments to our plan and roadmap, according to their feedback.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect to leave Early Access before May 2023 ends, but we will remain flexible and respond to player feedback, which may have an impact on our development roadmap. Our goal is to provide the most incredible Virtual Reality musical experience.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We've been working and exploring the core game play with many ideas in the past year and a half. We have finally reached a state we find stable, where the game is fun to play, easy to use, but with many possibilities.

Some of the content we are planning to implement during early access are:

• New Worlds.
  
• Campaign Mode.
  
• Career Mode, with backstage area.
  
• Collectibles such as Medals, Stars, and Achievements.
  
• Workshop support for music and skins.
  
• Gameplay Modifiers and accessibility features.
  
• Free Play integration with YouTube.
  
• Music theory courses and tools.

While we have every intention of implementing these features, learning from our players can change the priorities and direction of our roadmaps. We expect to share our goals with our community and be transparent on where we want the game to be heading.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is in a playable state, with the core gameplay elements fully functional. There are a variety of songs for you to play, with a working song select UI and the ability to check your high-score. In addition, there is a free play mode, where you can shoot at the notes to play your own music. You can also use the custom song system to play your own music created outside the game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We expect the price to increase as we transition out of Early Access and into Full Release, due to the final game having more content, music and features and being a more complete experience.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are planning to listen very closely to what the community is saying, taking our Early Access players comments and feedback onboard to help us define the game experience. We will be reading the comments and feedback from the Steam forums, our Discord server and social media. We'll pay close attention to bugs reports and suggestions. We are very excited to listen to our community, see it grow and wonder at what they can create within Musical Range.”
