What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Releasing in Early Access will allow The Frontier to start to build its own community of players. As a small team of just me, it's very helpful and important to be able to receive feedback from players that are invested in the game. The community's feedback and ideas will help guide the development of The Frontier, and allow me to create an even better game than I would be able to on my own.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“New estimate:
Since I'm currently not working on The Frontier full-time, I can't predict how long it will take until the game is completed.

Original estimate:
I plan on The Frontier being in Early Access for about a year and a half. I think I can implement all of my planned features within a year, and the remainder of the time will be spent on creating new game assets and adding new content. (This time period may be extended if the community has a lot of features they would like to see added to the game).”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“There are still many features I plan to implement in The Frontier. I will list some of the major ones below. In addition to these, I plan on replacing all of the game assets with newly created ones to give The Frontier a more polished and unified look and feel. This will also allow me to greatly expand the content of the game by adding new items, resources, biomes, and secrets to find while exploring the map.

Some of the Planned Features:
  • Many more specialists (including Banker and Robotics)
  • Random dungeons that can be explored and converted to mines
  • Multiple currencies
  • Multiple kingdoms vying for power - maintain their balance or risk devaluing your currency
  • Conveyor and auto-storage systems
  • Livestock, monsters and battles (using cards)
  • Character classes with different bonuses

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Frontier is currently very playable and stable, with hardly any bugs. I would place it at mid-Alpha version in terms of the amount of features already implemented. The Frontier currently uses placeholder assets for its art, sound, and music.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, I don't plan to alter the price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan to be very active on the Steam forums as a way to engage with the community. This will allow me to asses any issues players might be having with the game, as well as gauge interest for user-requested additions. I will also share my plans for future updates to the game regularly and ask for player feedback on them.”

About This Game

[Important: Please read before purchasing] Due to financial constraints, I'm currently unable to work on The Frontier full-time. I have no plans to cancel or stop working on the game; however, this will result in much slower and more inconsistent progress. If you're thinking about buying The Frontier, please bear this in mind and base your decision on how much you think you will enjoy the game in its current state.
