Why Early Access?

“While the core gameplay is functional, much of the balance and meta game has not been figured out yet, so I need actual players filling up matches to help shape it. Early Access provides a unique opportunity for a competitive multiplayer game like Warp League to be developed and adjusted as a direct effect of player feedback.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Warp League will be in Early Access for 6-8 months.

I plan to update the game at least once a month throughout Early Access. Critical bugs will be patched as quickly as possible!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Warp League will differ as such:

2 additional Early Access characters (for a total of 8)
2 additional arenas (for a total of 3)
A more robust party system to facilitate tournament play
Improved matchmaking logic that tries to find evenly matched games
No placeholder art”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“My emphasis so far has been to prioritize core gameplay, and develop features that help get people connected quickly without getting bored in a lonely lobby. I'm happy to report that the core gameplay is functional, including the following:

- A Competitive 3v3 online game mode
- 6 playable characters with 2 unique combat abilities each
- 1 (well balanced) arena
- In game voice chat with lots of muting options
- Drop in/drop out multiplayer to find matches quickly & help keep games full
- A pregame phase with a practice shot minigame so players can goof around together while they wait for more players to join. Optionally, if both teams press ready, the game can start without a full 6 players.
- A (crude) progression system to unlock 3 of the playable characters
- Over 30 Steam Achievements
- A ranked leaderboard. The top 3 players are even immortalized in the online arena for ultimate bragging rights.
- A tutorial section to learn the basics
- A variety of control schemes are allowed, including the ability to specify whether the touchpad should register taps or full presses
- friend invites
- teleport options include a standard 'blink' teleport, or a more immersive 'sliding' teleport.

Now for the bad:
- Your home court (aka offline mode) still has placeholder art in a few places
- The matchmaker is basically non-existent right now and just connects players as quickly as possible.
- while overall character mechanics have solidified, their balance numbers may be in flux for a while
- there's probably bugs. Please report them!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will increase when it leaves Early Access.”
