What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“AGA is a very small studio (one full-time and two volunteers!) and we need the help of our players to get this game ready for launch. By supporting us through Early Access you’ll be helping us to collate invaluable data, to address in-game issues and probably giving us a ton of cool new ideas for gameplay improvements. We can’t wait to get you playing Northern Regime: 1862 and we hope you’ll stay on this journey with us!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are not completely sure. We want there to be a substantial different between full release and early access. At this point in time, we don't know what that substantial change will be. Maybe a multiplayer mode, maybe a voiced story mode. We are not sure. Things that will also contribute to the change will be more content, and less bugs.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version in hopes will have little to zero bugs and plentiful content. As well as a large change in the area of an official animated or voiced story mode or a multiplayer mode; competitive, co-op, or minigame.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“There is a good amount in the game right now. We still suggest you wait for the response of the community before purchasing Northern Regime. Purchasing Northern Regime helps the developers a great deal and that should be your reason for purchasing.

  • Resource gathering. Gather materials used to craft. Resources are found throughout the terrain. There are few materials. We plan to expand them vastly soon. Here are some; Iron ore, sulfur ore, yarrow plants that are used for healing or crafting items the contain cloth materials, Logs, sticks, chocolate bars, beans, and beef jerky.

  • A solid crafting system. With a solid amount of items to choose from. Here are some; A rifle, bullets, a pistol, a hatchet, a pickaxe, a hammer, an item repair kit, a snare for animals like bunnies, nails, an oil rig, walls to a house, a generator, an oil tank, a sawmill, a fire pit, a fire starter/flint, a pistol sight, string, and a bed.

  • Hostile Enemy Camps. There are only 4 camps spread out through the map. We of course plan to add additional camps with different mechanics to make raiding continuously interesting. Camps contain the following; Enemy soldiers with somewhat accurate aim, chests filled with a variety of different loot type items, and common ore found other places in the world. They also contain architecture objects like; cabins, fencing for protection, and guard towers. Enemies in these camps will only attack you if you attack them first, as they are not entirely sure which faction you belong to.

  • Leveling System We have a basic leveling system in the game. We plan to add different perks and abilities as you level. Right now leveling unlocks various crafting recipes. Most crafting recipes don't require levels. The ones that do are higher use items like rifles and pistols.

  • Survival We have a few survival mechanics that you may have seen similar to other games. We have health, warmth, and hunger. Our survival isn't that hardcore. Usually, food is quite easy to find like chocolate bars, beans, and jerky. It does get tough finding additional food as a pistol takes some grinding to accomplish. The only way to kill an animal is with a firearm.

  • Animals Currently there are only two animals in Northern Regime which is a Deer and a Bear. A deer's primary use is for food and it's pelt. Deer are not hostile and will not attack you. A deer can only be killed with a fire arm. It drops around 5 pieces of raw deer meet you can cook on a fire pit.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of Northern Regime: Full Release will be raised by 10 percent.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want a community-based development process. The goal is to reach out to the community as much as possible. Survival Games have been very popular with that we can agree that the community if very knowledgeable with what they want to see to make the game better and more polished.”

WE ASK THAT THE REASON YOU BUY NORTHERN REGIME IS TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS AND NOT TO PLAY A WELL ROUNDED GAME

Northern Regime: 1862 is a hardcore survival game set against the backdrop of the American Civil War, in the frozen and frigid landscape of Northern Dakota. It’s you against the environment and all its inherent dangers as you tackle Confederate soldiers, aggressive wildlife and cold itself to keep yourself alive.

HARDCORE SANDBOX SURVIVAL

Hunger in Northern Regime is an important aspect in the wild. You can find food and water in enemy camps which is sometimes a rarity, as well, it is very risky. The most common way to maintain an appropriate hunger level is by hunting with your trusty rifle. Killing deer will give you in between 1-3 pieces of meat. The difficult part is not exerting too much energy. The more energy you waste by running and firing your rifle will cause increased hunger. If you fail to kill a buck you've been hunting for could cause death. Hunting and hunger will require a unique strategy for your survival.

REAL-WORLD ENVIRONMENT

Using real-world geographical data, we have developed a living, breathing representation of the Fargo region of North Dakota for you to explore. Be careful not to get sucked in by the environment’s beauty, though, as danger lurks around every corner.

CONSTANT DANGER!

In addition to sustaining yourself with food and water, you’ll have to keep your wits about you to fend off the attention of bears, Confederate soldiers and later on in development, many more potential aggressors. You’ll need to craft weapons and ammunition to repel these threats where necessary!

Trading and Coercing is Planned but not officially in Nothern Regime

CRAFT, TRADE & COERCE

Northern Dakota is filled with NPCs who will react to you in a specific way based on your reputation. You’ll need to increase your standings with individual factions through crafting and trading with them in order to bring them round to your way of thinking! With travelers, traders and refugees wandering the environment and numerous settlements to find, you’ll have ample opportunities to make friends…or enemies.
