What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Our plan is to develop the game around the emerging VR RPG fan base, in hopes to build incredible multiplayer experiences, and in-game content builders so players can unleash their creativity and share their own adventures with the world. If you enjoy playing games as they are being further developed, this is for you! If you are expecting 100% flawless gameplay in a finished game, this may not be your cup of tea just yet, but your input is still incredibly valuable! The base platform has been built, and we are expanding the game. While multiplayer and the dungeon builder are being worked on, we need to grow the team from one developer (myself) into more who eat, sleep, and breathe VR/RPG/Development. The community will help bring the right people into the fold, and allow the project to really take off. As a full-time developer, the money brought in from EA will allow for other like-minded, employed individuals to join the team. It is important that the community sees this is a long term project, driven by those who purchase the game, and will have every right to critique, plan, and enjoy the content that is created.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Draconic Order VR will easily be in EA for the next 2 years. What this means is that for 2 years, active development will be taking place on this game alone, not other side project games or releases. There is a huge desire for a beautiful, fun, social MMO RPG for the HTC Vive, and this is going to be the project that gets the community there. We are going to stay in EA until the product is done, and the plans for the game are huge, not in a complexity-sense, but content sense.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During our stay in EA, players will see the roll-out of new engine features like Dungeon Builder, where players can create, animate, and even narrate their own adventures to be enjoyed by other players (either in groups or solo) for free. By players creating the content they love to play, and having our team fuel their dreams with the items, monsters, animals, and spells they need, we can build an ever-growing field of content. With that being said, multiplayer will be a crucial addition. The current library being tested is supporting 40+ players, making it possible to host community servers as dedicated "zones", thus skipping out on the complexity of big name MMO server networking architectures. By keeping it simple, and hosting our own "zones" we can create ways for players to travel the world together, with minor load times in between the large maps that are offered. The most important part of this project is being realistic, and not over promising, or floating ideas out that are not possible with the current development team (myself, currently). Everything listed is extremely doable, and most of the elements needed are either already done, being worked on, or have been worked on in previous game projects.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version of the game holds Chapter 1: Ecirnaus Awakens. There is 1 saved game slot (games have a World Save that happens every 15 minutes automatically), allowing to pickup in the world you left off the day before. Players can explore, fight monsters, discover tomes that describe both spell recipes and guardian summoning spells. Locomotion options have been added as spells, currently offering Hover (a directional hover), and Teleport (dash style). Hands are ambidextrous, so either hand can be used for any menu, interaction, ability, etc. Both hands are capable of holding 2 spells and 2 items at any given time!

The next update will include a wave shooter style mode called Survive The Night, where the player must defend the villagers of the settlement from an increasignly hard wave of enemies that are spawned every night. Players will need to explore, resource, and craft weapons during the daytime, before nightfall comes, bringing the undead along with it!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Once the multiplayer system is rolled out, the price will go up to reflect the new milestone on the development roadmap. After the price hike there will be no more, and the rest of the development continues as planned.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The Community drives the development process. With ideas and inspirations from players, we can create something truly beautiful. I encourage discussion of ideas and media, even from those who haven't purchased the game. I want to know what your thoughts are if you are hesitant to try the game. I wanted to make sure to have a sizable amount of content immediately, and have releases planned every week to two weeks after launch with some really cool ideas that were put on the backburner to finish core gameplay.

Will you hear your calling, and establish the Draconic Order once more?”

About This Game

There is a new version of the game that is more RPG heavy coming in the near future!! Play as a Cleric, Crusader, Enchanter, Necromancer, Oracle, or Shadowlord in an openworld style RPG with areas tuned to certain player levels. Do grunt work and buy armor, upgrade weapons, learn new spells, and learn more about the incoming stampede of the Draconic Order who are emerging as solid force against the land.

[Original version's game description:]
Are you ready for a Virtual Reality Survival RPG experience on the HTC Vive? In Chapter 1, the early alpha game has you play through the prologue of the chapters to come, setting up the world for a great war. Following chapters will have you command the role of other heroes from different races as they are dragged into the fray. The story begins with you, a half-blooded human descendant of the ancient Draconic Order, exiled to an island for the rest of your days. With some skill, intelligence, and some good luck, you just might turn the world upside down and return to the mainland as a powerful warrior mage.

Discover mysterious tomes, written in different race's native tongue. These can be transcribed at various portals around the island. Holding the items in your hand when near the portal will cause them to 'react', meaning a tome can be transcribed after a few seconds when opened. Learn various spells, and summon legendary Guardians to aide you in Battle. Seek out the epic weapons of fallen Heroes once lost to the Island. You will need Guardians to take down the 4 big bosses you learn of from the notes in the Prison cells beneath the island.

Explore new areas to find more clues of their whereabouts and defeat the evils that hold them.

The dungeon within the island holds the key to your past and future. There you will find the great Ecirnaus.

Will you give rise to Draconic Order once more?
