Why Early Access?

“We've developed the beginnings of a voice-controlled world-building experience and are looking for feedback on the basic mechanics before expanding our language capabilities and interaction systems. To start, you'll be able to create worlds using our library of over 1,000 objects and bring the worlds to life using hundreds of verbs (like "cows eat grass"). As the Early Access program progresses, we hope to add new objects and verbs and implement new features to make the experience more fun and fulfilling. The objects/verbs/features we introduce are highly dependent on your feedback, so let us know what you'd like us to develop next!”

Approximately how long will this software be in Early Access?

“Moatboat will likely stay in Early Access 3-6 months as we add key new features and polish existing systems based on user feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“What Moatboat looks like once it's released is highly dependent on user feedback. That being said, our team is pretty excited about the following possible improvements and new features:

• Multiplayer: build worlds with your friends
  
• Accounts: save your worlds and access them on any device
  
• Cross-platform: build in VR on an Oculus or Vive and view it in AR on your iPhone
  
• Smarter AI: characters act and react more naturally and can perform more complex tasks
  
• Improved language processing: support more complex sentences
  
• More content: choose from a larger list of base worlds and add more objects to include within your worlds

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“When you first enter Moatboat, you'll go through a short tutorial to learn the basics of how to build a world using your voice. After that, you'll choose from a dozen or so randomly-generated starter worlds to create your own world. You can choose from over 1,000 objects to add to your world, place and rotate those objects, give characters goals or actions, and have them interact with each other. You can then save your world locally so that you can come back to it at any time in the future and continue building. You can also explore dozens of worlds created by our team. Use them as inspiration for your own worlds or build on top of them to make them your own.”

Will this software be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Moatboat will likely be priced 1.5-2x higher once it comes out of Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is everything! We have a lot of features we could be building and are excited about, but we want to make sure we're doing the right things to make Moatboat the most satisfying world-building experience in VR. Your feedback will help us to uncover new features and prioritize those features into our development process. We're a small team that's listening closely and have the ability to change directions on the fly, so we look forward to your feedback and ideas.”
