The brigade’s history dates back to 1922. Over more than a century of existence, the military unit has repeatedly changed its structure, name, and deployment locations, passing through various historical eras. It participated in the events of World War II, endured a complex post-war period, underwent reforms and transformations, and gradually evolved into a modern, mobile, and highly effective combat formation.

Today, the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade is a modern combat unit that combines frontline experience, high professionalism, and an unbreakable fighting spirit. Its ranks include representatives of various nationalities from the Transcarpathia region Ukrainians, Hungarians, Romanians, Slovaks, and others. They are all united by a single goal: defending Ukraine and fighting for freedom.

This is why the brigade is often called the "Transcarpathian Legion." This title is not just about geography or the origins of the warriors; it is about brotherhood, mutual support, strength of character, and the readiness to stand until the very end for their country.

Throughout the years of war, the brigade's warriors have become an emblem of courage for the entire nation. Among them are Heroes of Ukraine, recipients of state awards, commanders, and soldiers who prove their devotion to Ukraine every day with actions, not words. Many fighters have made the ultimate sacrifice giving their lives for the freedom of the Ukrainian people. Their memory remains forever in the brigade's ranks.

Today, the 128th Separate Transcarpathian Mountain Assault Brigade continues to fulfill combat missions in the hottest areas of the frontline. Its warriors remain a symbol of resilience, strength, and the indomitable spirit of the Ukrainian army. Their story is one of struggle, honor, and loyalty to Ukraine a story that spans over a hundred years and continues to be written every day on the battlefield.
