About This Demo

UPDATE 06/04/2026:

• Fixed the crash when launching the Top-Down Shooter on some computers.

• Fixed the slowdown in the Beat 'em up.

FAQ:

• Why offer four different game styles instead of focusing on just one?

To offer maximum fun and variety. There will be a separate version for three game types (Beat 'em up/Hack 'n' slash, Beat 'em up, Top-Down Shooter). Jash Retro will be a combination of these three games plus a side-scroller shooter.

• Why release a demo?

After creating the Jash Retro prototype, the demo allows players to get a feel for the game and follow its development, as well as each individual game. And as a solo independent developer, having support through Kickstarter is crucial.

• What if I don't enjoy the demo?

The best thing to do is give me feedback via Steam or the various social media platforms. I'll be happy to take it into account or respond. A positive review on Steam is incredibly encouraging for development, helps me get support, and allows me to improve the game.

THE STORY:

In the near future, cutting-edge technology is stolen by a gang of criminals.

This technology allows travel through time and to any location.

A team is sent to stop them from causing harm, stealing, and sowing discord in the space-time continuum.

Run, jump, punch, fight, shoot, throw grenades, and drive vehicles to defeat the bad guys and restore peace!

GAMEPLAYS:

In this demo, you can get a taste of the final game and try out the Beat 'em up and Top-Down Shooter modes (the most advanced gameplay).

(Throwing a grenade and taking out multiple enemies is really fun ^^)

(The spinning back kick was a great technique in Target Renegade and other games)

(In Ikari Warriors, it was fun to crush the enemies ^^)

ABOUT :
Jash Retro is inspired by some old and good retro video games.
I like those games and wanted to have a games with different gameplays, fun and a common story.
I'm aiming to finish the game for the first semester 2027.

For this demo, the top-down shooter is currently the most developed.
As for the beat 'em up, I'm going to keep working on it, and the final version will be more varied and more fun!

- How will be the final game?

A local multiplayers will be available for 3 gameplays.
And a lot of contents will be added and fixed.

- For the Beat'em up:

I'm experiencing a bug where, when enemies are grabbed, they fall through the ground sometimes.
If this happens in the demo, just restart the level. This bug will be fixed in the final version!
Also some collisions for the player and enemies will be improved and also IA for enemies.
A lot of weapons will be added, playable characters with different style of fighting, landscape.
The possibility to drive some vehicles and more contents and surprises to come!

- For the Top Down shooter :

I'll maybe add more weapons, type of enemies.
I'll add landscapes, different missions and another vehicle to drive.
I'll add one more mode but it's a surprise.

- For the Hack and slash :

I have the prototype, I'll develop a lot this one!

- For the sidescroller like Contra:

I'll develop it with new actions to do, missions but it will be playable by one single player.

I'll be aware of your comments, recommendations and of course improve the whole game, I'll correct bugs.
