What is AI Society?

AI Society is an idle simulation game where every character is driven by a real local AI model. There are no scripted routines, no predetermined story arcs — just a group of people with their own minds, living their lives in a town you created.

You design the townsfolk. You set the stage. Then you watch what happens.

You're the Architect, Not the Player

Create up to 25 unique characters and define who they are:

•       Set personality traits — how peaceful, hardworking, extroverted, generous, playful, or dominant they are

•       Give them hobbies like fishing, wood carving, or leatherworking

•       Write a freeform description to shape their worldview and backstory

•       Choose their appearance and gender

Once your society is running, sit back. The AI takes over from there.

A Society With a Mind of Its Own

Characters in AI Society are fully autonomous. They will:

•       Find jobs and fill roles in the town's economy based on their personalities

•       Earn and spend money, manage hunger, and seek rest

•       Form relationships — some warm, some tense — based on their traits and interactions

•       Post thoughts, reactions, and confrontations on "Ye Social Media," the town's in-game social feed

•       Visit the homes and farms of their neighbours, or gather at the tavern

•       Fight with characters they despise — and if things go badly, die permanently

When a character dies, they're gone. Their job goes unfilled. Their relationships dissolve. They're remembered in the town cemetery, where others may visit their grave.

AI Society runs entirely on your machine using Ollama. No internet required, no subscriptions, no data sent anywhere. Choose the model that fits your hardware:

•       Llama 3.2 1B — Lightweight, runs on almost anything

•       Llama 3.1 8B — Recommended for the best character quality and depth

•       Gemma 2 2B — An alternative lightweight option

Every conversation, every social media post, every decision your townsfolk make is generated live by the AI model you select.
