開發者的話:

為何採用搶先體驗模式?

「We are choosing Early Access because The Things Left Behind is playable, feature-complete at the vignette level, and ready for broader community feedback, but it is not finished. Three fully playable vignette levels are implemented with core systems in place, and the game can be experienced from beginning to end in its current state.

Early Access allows us to refine pacing, accessibility features, performance optimization, and overall cohesion based on player feedback. Because the game is structured as a growing collection of self-contained vignettes, community response will directly inform iteration and future additions.

We are not relying on Early Access sales to complete the project. The current build stands as a complete, playable experience. Early Access is being used as a collaborative development phase to improve quality and incorporate thoughtful feedback before a full 1.0 release.」

這款遊戲的搶先體驗時間大約會持續多久?

「We anticipate The Things Left Behind being in Early Access for approximately 12–18 months. This timeframe allows for iterative playtesting, accessibility refinement, performance optimization, and the potential addition of new vignette levels informed by community feedback.

Because the project is structured as a growing collection of self-contained experiences, the duration of Early Access is tied to thoughtful iteration rather than a fixed feature checklist. We will transition out of Early Access once the core vignette collection feels cohesive, stable, and representative of the project’s intended scope.」

正式版預計會與搶先體驗版有何不同?

「The Early Access version will include three fully playable vignette levels with complete core systems, dialogue, and interaction. The full version is planned to expand both the scope and depth of the project.

We plan to refine visual polish, accessibility features, sound design, and performance optimization based on player feedback. We also intend to add additional vignette levels developed through new collaborations, broadening the range of experiences represented while strengthening thematic cohesion across the collection.

The full version is expected to feel more expansive, cohesive, and polished while maintaining the intimate, self-contained structure that defines the game.」

搶先體驗版目前的開發進度如何?

「The Early Access version includes three fully playable vignette levels, each with implemented dialogue, exploration mechanics, interactive elements, and distinct visual styles. Players can complete each vignette from beginning to end, and core systems for movement, interaction, and narrative progression are fully functional.

The current build represents a stable prototype with foundational audio, art, and accessibility features in place. While the experience is complete and playable, visual polish, performance optimization, expanded accessibility options, and additional content are still in development and will continue to evolve during Early Access.」

遊戲售價在搶先體驗期間前後會有所變動嗎?

「The game will remain free during Early Access and after full release. The Things Left Behind is designed as an open-access project, and we do not plan to charge for the game at any stage of development.」

在開發過程中,您打算如何與社群互動?

「We plan to involve the community through structured feedback and transparent development updates. During Early Access, players will be encouraged to share feedback through the Steam Community Hub, discussion threads, and periodic update posts outlining changes and areas where input is especially helpful.

We also plan to conduct targeted playtesting sessions with disability and LGBTQ+ community partners, incorporating accessibility testing and qualitative feedback into iteration cycles. Development updates will be shared regularly so players can see how feedback informs refinements to pacing, usability, and future vignette additions.」

關於此遊戲

The Things Left Behind is a narrative-driven 2D indie game built from short, intimate slice-of-life vignettes about queer and disabled life.

In this game you move through everyday moments shaped by care, honor, humor, intimacy, and connection. Each self-contained level invites you to explore, talk, notice, and interact gently with the world around you. The experience centers on presence.

Experience Quiet, Playable Moments

Move through a child’s birthday party as sound builds and imagination becomes grounding.
Walk beside someone through a forest where conversation, collecting small objects, and subtle visual shifts reflect intimacy and transition.
Navigate a chaotic morning where tasks overlap and time feels slippery, capturing the experience of overstimulation and survival.

Each vignette stands on its own, with distinct art styles, mechanics, and tone. Together, they form a growing collection of playable experiences grounded in lived reality.

Designed Around Care

• Narrative-driven 2D gameplay
• Short, self-contained vignette structure
• Dialogue and exploration-focused interaction
• Distinct art styles and mechanics per level
• No fail states, no score pressure
• Keyboard, mouse, and controller support
• Built in Unity

A Community-Centered Design Process

The Things Left Behind is created through partnerships with disability and LGBTQ+ organizations that support workforce development and inclusive creative practice. Collaborators are brought into the project from the beginning. Partners begin by learning Unity-based game development, contributing to design and narrative decisions, and participating in playtesting and iteration. This is not a game about marginalized communities made from the outside. It is a game co-designed and built by queer and disabled creators, with paid roles, mentorship, and shared authorship embedded into the process. The result is a project where lived experience shapes not only the stories, but the mechanics, pacing, and emotional tone.
