Three Kingdoms Stratagem is part narrative adventure, part turn-based tactical RPG.

Three Kingdoms Stratagem follows the plot of the 14th century historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Play as multiple characters, including Liu Bei and Cao Cao, as they negotiate and fight their way through the turbulent years at the end of the Han Dynasty.

In the game, as in the novel, the characters will fight many tactical battles against powerful foes. The game's tactics feature a telegraphing system, in which enemies decide who to attack, and the player's heroes get a chance to disrupt those attacks before they happen.

Heroes grow stronger and learn new, more powerful attacks as they fight their way through the story.

The game also features a custom battle mode so you can create endless matchups between different sets of Three Kingdoms characters.

This game contains a mix of human-created and AI-generated pixel art assets. Some assets were initially AI-generated and then heavily modified by a human artist (e.g. the battle map hexes, horse sprites, intro screen).

The voice acting was generated with XTTS v2, an open-source text-to-speech model. This allowed a one-person project to have a large cast of voiced characters.
