Acerca de esta demo

The river remembers everything. But is this a blessing, or a curse?

You are Jonas Callow, a city investigator. Seven years ago, your mentor and adoptive father, Ewan Merron, was declared dead in a river accident. Now, a single piece of evidence—a blurry photo of a figure on a stone bridge—draws you to the remote, rain-lashed village of Aelwater. You arrive only to find a community already drowning, not just in water, but in the ghostly echoes of its own forgotten past.

Aelwater is not like other places. Shielded by time and strange faith, its people believe the memories of the departed are tangible things, flowing into the waters of the Ael River to be guarded by a mortal keeper. This Riverkeeper’s sacred duty is to purify these memories of their pain, maintaining a delicate balance between the living and the dead. But the balance has shattered. The river is sick, memories bleed into the streets as haunting visions, and a deeper, more mysterious flood threatens to wash everything away for good.

A Story of Memory, Guilt, and Choice

  • Unearth a Personal Mystery: Follow the fragmented trail Ewan left behind. From your shared past in the city to the heart of this cryptic village, piece together the truth of his final days and discover why a man who lived to save others would vanish into legend.

  • Wade Into Living Memories: Wield an ancient compass to stabilize and experience the memories scattered by the flood. Step directly into the defining moments of the villagers’ lives—their love, loss, guilt, and rare peace—and feel the profound emotional weight the Riverkeeper was meant to bear.

  • Decipher the Narrative: The core of interaction lies in an ancient script, the “River Glyphs.” Learn new characters through exploration and solve simple, intuitive fill-in-the-blank puzzles to progress. Understanding the puzzle is understanding the story.

  • Explore a Haunting World: Immerse yourself in a meticulously crafted, mini-open world. Traverse the rain-soaked and flood-ravaged landscapes of Aelwater, from its crumbling village center to the silent, dense woods. Every environment tells a story of what was lost.

  • Shape Your Journey: Through dialogue choices, define Jonas’s voice—will you be empathetic, analytical, or guarded? Your tone shapes your unique relationship with your radio contact, Beatrice, as you slowly unravel the mystery of who—or what—is really on the other end of the line.

The river is rising. You are the final witness.

Descripción del contenido para adultos

Los desarrolladores describen su contenido así:

This game explores themes of death, grief, and loss as central narrative elements. Players investigate a tragedy in a flooded village and experience memories of deceased characters through first-person flashback sequences. The story deals with processing loss, mourning, and coming to terms with death in a contemplative, philosophical manner. While the game does not contain graphic violence or disturbing imagery, the subject matter may be emotionally difficult for players sensitive to themes of death and bereavement.
