It All Began With a Bug is a short narrative adventure game where you play as insects in a mysterious tower rising above the ocean.

PLAY AS BUGS

Discover a diverse cast of insects, each with their own story, capabilities, and challenges. Experience the world at their scale, through the intimate lens of a nature documentary.

OBSERVE AND BE OBSERVED

A narrator guides you through the insects' stories, observing your actions with curiosity and poetry. While the narrator documents their lives with scientific care, the tower itself tells a second, quieter story.

DISCOVER UNIQUE BEHAVIORS

From rhythm-based spider courtship dances to strategic dung-rolling, each insect brings its own way to play. Each sequence introduces new mechanics tailored to that insect's biology and behavior.

SCUTTLE THROUGH THE HUMAN WORLD

Explore a tower where insects thrive in the spaces humanity has abandoned (or is about to), as their intimate struggles interweave with glimpses of something far greater.
