What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Right now, all our art is completed, as well as music and other requirements. The issue now is to slot in all the voice acting from the Fourth Act and onwards as well as the art. Music and SFX can be done quickly. However, splitting up lines individually is very time consuming. We aim to release patches monthly to increase the amount of missing content.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We hope to be done with this in the next few months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The current version for A More Beautiful World has voice acting and sprites mainly done up till the fourth act. The full version will have full voice acting, a complete OST from Harmonicblend as well as immersive sound effects and completed artworks after the programming.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Artworks: 100% complete
Scripting/Programming: 75%
Music: 90%
SFX: 0%
Voice Acting: 100% (Recording is done, we just need to program everything in!)”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will increase once we leave early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“This gives us a chance to work with our community to work on any potential bugs we have yet to identify, as well as seeking opinions on the implementation of the sprite art.”

Reviews

“Most of the visual novels I have come across have a distinct Asian theme to them, but I have always maintained the opinion that visual novels should break out from the stereotype that it is an exclusively Asian genre. Outside of Asia, the potential of visual novels, to this day, remains largely untapped. The recent success of the Kickstarter campaign of Afterthought Studios’ A More Beautiful World gives me hope as it sees to combine aspects from both sides of the prime meridian.”

“Afterthought Studios has the beginnings of a great game in their hands and it is exciting to see where they will move Violetta as the game moves forward, especially when it comes to friendship or romance! If you’re into complex stories that focus on individuals but on relationships and worlds as well or if you enjoy magical, traveling story lines like those inSpice and Wolf or Maoyuu Maou Yuusha, please consider checking out the lovely demo!”
Hayurika

“This game’s strong point is the team that’s working on it. Browse through the Kickstarter and you can easily see that there’s a lot of talented people collaborating on this. I think that says a lot for the final product. Though it’s a little outside my usual realm of games that I play (otome games are life), I did enjoy this demo. There were times when I felt the transitions were somewhat abrupt, but the concept and ideas carry through. I’m interested in seeing how things work out for the Merchant, but mostly I want to see how Violetta develops as a character.”

About This Game

Magic was thought long vanished from the world of Gallantia after a civil war between the ancient wizards and the armies of man. Until now....

Magic vanished when the ancient wizards who ruled Gallantia were ousted by the armies of man. Knowledge of the arcane and the ones who worked the ancient Blessings were lost - buried in the sands of time.

Magic has been relegated to the realm of myth, of superstition. Yet, myths often have a basis in truth, and a chance encounter in the Eternal Forest could change the world forever.

Join Violetta, the Witch of Everlasting Journeys, as she travels through an expansive fantasy setting rich in history and lore on an epic quest to discover if mankind has truly made "A More Beautiful World" in the absence of miracles.

What will she find at the end of her adventure? Hope for a brighter tomorrow, or despair in the nature of man? That's the question YOU will have to help answer.

Inspired by novels such as 'Spice and Wolf' and 'Maoyuu Maou Yuusha', A More Beautiful World follows their tradition of placing emphasis on relationships, money and politics.

As you join Violetta, expect to see many familiar elements in her journey; history buffs will also pick out real world events reflected in the story from China, Europe and the Americas. That's the question that remains to be answered.

Fans of classical literature can expect to find allusions to their favourite works in the visual novel too! Will you join Violetta on her journey?
