What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“ZeroOne Terminal is a decision focused strategy game where the difficulty depends heavily on how well real players can read the founders, spot weaknesses, and judge each scenario. Early Access lets me observe how players think, where they struggle, and which stories or mechanics need tuning. This phase helps me refine the difficulty curve and the quality of the scenarios by working with a group of players who enjoy this type of reasoning game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect the game to remain in Early Access for roughly 2–3 months. The main goal is to gather feedback, balance difficulty across the different years/scenarios, and polish the overall experience. The exact timing may shift depending on how quickly I can collect enough reliable player data, but the plan is to exit Early Access within that window.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to include more years of gameplay, a larger set of startup scenarios, improved balancing, and additional quality of life features. I also plan to refine the conversation system and adjust how founders reveal information so that the reasoning challenge feels fair and rewarding. I expect to add improvements based on community feedback during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is fully playable from start to finish for the early years. The core loop is in place. You can interview founders, make investment decisions, and track your results. Most systems are stable and functional. Some stories, difficulty values, and UI elements still need polishing, and I am actively tuning them based on feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to increase the price when the game leaves Early Access. Early Access gives players a chance to support development at a lower price while helping to shape the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I will collect feedback through Steam discussions, discord community, and direct messages. I plan to ask players about story clarity, difficulty, pacing, and how intuitive the decision making feels. I will review play data, adjust scenarios, and release small updates as needed. The goal is to refine the game in collaboration with players who enjoy analytical decision making.”

About This Game

ABOUT THIS GAME

You take the role of a venture analyst working through the early 2000s to the late 2010s.
Each year you meet a new set of founders and hear their ideas. Your goal is to ask the right questions, understand what is really happening inside their companies, and decide whether to invest or pass.

The founders are optimistic, but they are not perfect. If you ask well, you will uncover the real limitations of their engineering, timing, distribution, or business model. Some ideas are brilliant, some are flawed, and some are much too early for the market.

Good decisions compound over time. A single great investment can change your entire run. A few bad calls can set you back for years. You do not run the startups yourself. You evaluate them and build a portfolio that grows (or collapses) based on your judgment.

The companies you encounter are inspired by real successes and real failures from the last two decades of tech. Part of the challenge is learning to spot the patterns that separate a future unicorn from a company that will disappear.

FEATURES

• Text based investigation focused on asking questions and reading between the lines
• A multi year investment timeline where each choice affects your long term net worth
• Scenarios inspired by real startups and real founder behavior

• A chance to practice the mental models used by real investors

Note: An internet connection is required to play.

WHO IS THIS FOR

This game is for players who enjoy reasoning, pattern recognition, and making decisions with limited information. If you like understanding how things work, testing your judgment, and improving your intuition with each run, you will feel at home here.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

This game uses AI to generate dynamic, text-based dialogue with fictional startup founders. Players can ask free-form questions, and the AI responds within the game’s predefined scenarios. AI-generated content is single-player only and limited to the fictional game world.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

ZeroOne Terminal is a narrative startup simulation intended for mature audiences. The game focuses on business decision-making, investment strategy, and dialogue with AI-driven mentor characters, and may include strong opinions, confrontational language, and discussion of real-world topics such as money, power, competition, and historical or geopolitical events.

The game does not contain depictions of sexual acts, nudity, or graphic violence. Any attempts to prompt sexual, violent, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate content are blocked by the game’s moderation system, and the AI will refuse and redirect the conversation back to the simulation.

Players sensitive to strong language or intense thematic discussions around ambition, failure, and high-stakes decision making should be aware of this tone.
