In "Waning Light," players will find themselves in a bittersweet symphony of life's highs and lows, where each day spent in the grips of an ordinary existence is juxtaposed against the thrilling escapades of nightly dreams. 

As depression's grip tightens, the dream world begins to fray, and the hero's once-mighty powers start to wane, embodying the emotional turmoil in a game that's as much about battling personal demons as it is about conquering mythical ones.

Day - Waking World

• Life-Sim Light: Using our Willpower system, players will be faced with making choices on how they spend their time. Will they focus on getting the best grades? Spending time with friends or family? Maybe focusing on their part time job? 

• Choices & Consequences: What you do in the day will change your mental state and alter the night. Unfortunately, the player has limited willpower, so some tasks will have to fall to the wayside. 

Night - Dreaming World

• Exploration: As the dreamworld shifts based on what the player neglects, the player can see the effects it has on the dreamworld. From the shifting town, NPC reactions, and more.

• Card combat: Players will battle their dreamworld foes in combat using a variety of cards that can help them or hurt/hinder the enemy. Cards are collected throughout the game based on decisions made and paths taken, meaning players can build decks to suit their playstyle… but life is unexpected and with an ever-evolving emotional state, the benefits of cards gane change.

With accuracy a core tenant of Waning Light, we’re working with a number of subject matter experts and organizations to ensure the way we depict depression, emotions, and coping mechanisms are respectful, accurate, and safe.
