Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

Note: Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development. Learn more

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I'm super excited to be able to share this game in Early Access, and it's not a decision made lightly. As a solo dev, external input is incredibly valuable, and I cannot think of better input for the game than from the people who are going to play it. As the game grows and develops, I'll consult closely with the community to ensure that the final product is not only a fulfilment of my personal vision, but one shared with the players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Somewhere between 1-2 years from Early Access launch.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to iterate greatly on the core principles of the game, bringing in new gameplay features, graphical improvements, and optimisations.

Working with the community, I plan to add features that will deepen and enhance the experience, including (but not limited to):

- Terraforming (atmosphere/water/temperature)
- Asteroid redirection and mining
- Natural dangers (e.g., solar flares)

This of course would be on top of the planned addition of plenty of new technology, buildings, ships, etc.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Launch Window early access will include orbital mechanics simulation, automated spaceship routing between celestial bodies, and basic resource production chains. For more information on these systems, please reference the "About This Game" section below.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the game will incrementally increase in price leading up to full launch”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'm very keen on getting as much community feedback as I can!

My preferred online refuge is Reddit, so I will be very active on my subreddit there (r/LaunchWindowGame), and I can also set up a discord.”

About This Game

Launch Window is a single player physics-based automation game where you establish supply chains across an entire solar system using Newtonian orbital mechanics. Transport resources and populations between colonies using real physics. Build infrastructure to construct more ships. Use those ships to establish new supply routes. This is how the colony grows.

Your first launch may carry a handful of colonists and supplies to a barren moon, founding your first extra-planetary outpost. Years later, you command a fleet of hundreds of ships traversing the solar system, each one following a trajectory you planned, bound for a sprawling colony you designed.

  • Start with a lone planetary outpost, and develop into a full solar system-wide colony

  • Coordinate fleets of 1,000+ Newtonian physics-based spaceships

  • Automate orbital shipping lanes, plotting routes rather than individual burns

  • Build across entire spherical worlds, placing structures anywhere on a planet's surface

  • Craft logistical networks on-surface and between different planetary bodies

  • Research and unlock more advanced technology, manoeuvres, and buildings to improve your colony and extend your reach

As you are in command of up to 1,000+ ships simultaneously, you are not required to calculate every inter-planetary manoeuvre yourself. Instead, use physics to plot and execute orbital manoeuvres, setting up automated shipping lanes to transport resources between celestial bodies.

All manoeuvres happen on a single plane, meaning you can read your solar system at a glance, tracking hundreds of trajectories without losing the thread.

As there are only certain times reaching different planetary bodies is possible (the Launch Window), you will have to plan carefully what resources are needed at which colonies, how long they will take to get there, how long they will take to be resupplied. This logistical puzzle is the basis of the game.

You have full rein to build across the entire surface on each planet you inhabit. Build solar panels to extract sunlight, build drills to extract resources, and build factories to amass your fleet. The reach of the colony depends on the infrastructure that feeds it.

Each planetary body offers different resources and challenges. Ice-rich moons provide water for fuel production. Metal-rich rocky bodies feed your factories. Outer planets offer rare resources but longer transit times. Where you expand, and in what order, shapes the logistics of everything that follows.

Once you have planned your trajectory, built your spaceships, and filled them with cargo, it's time to light the candle. Launch from your pads when the windows align. Timing is everything.

Use flagships to lead your convoys across the system, not worrying about each-and-every ship. This game's been built for optimisation and consistency, so even at very high time warp (up to 100,000x) your fleet and their physics operate reliably and with high performance.

EARLY ACCESS

Launch Window is in active development. The core game mechanics - orbital physics, automation systems, and planetary production will be playable on early access release. Your feedback will directly shape what comes next as the solar system expands.

Major planned features include:

  • Terraforming (atmosphere/water/temperature)

  • Asteroid/comet redirection and mining

  • Celestial dangers (e.g., solar flares)

  • Megastructures, both orbital and terrestrial

Also expect regular updates adding new technology, buildings, ships, and more.

ABOUT THE STUDIO

gumptiongames consists of 1 dev, Fred (that's me, hello). Motivated through a love of sci-fi, physics sims, and space in general, I want to create games that capture the vastness of space, have satisfying orbital mechanics, and give the joy of expanding logistics networks. My hope is to bring this ideal to life through Launch Window, and I am eager for thoughts and feedback. Please do get in touch!
