About This Content

2EL4 — a modern two-section DC electric locomotive for Ukraine.

The 2EL4 was developed based on the technical solutions of the 2ES4 “Sinara” series and adapted for operation on Ukrainian railways. These locomotives are designed to work on lines with 3 kV DC, which is used on a significant part of the western and eastern electrified routes in Ukraine.

2EL4 is intended for hauling heavy freight trains on mainline sections with complex gradients, where high tractive power and reliable control systems are required. Such locomotives have been operated mainly on the Prydniprovska, Donetska, and Odeska railways.

The model in ZDSimulator accurately reproduces the features of the real locomotive:

Realistic traction, brake, and auxiliary system sounds
Animated driver’s cab with working instruments
Authentic dynamics of starting, traction, and braking under load
Full compliance with 3 kV DC characteristics
