What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“DISTANT VISITANT combines deep survival, crafting, base-building, and NPC management systems. We believe the core experience is playable and engaging, but these interconnected systems need balancing and feedback from a live community.

Early Access allows us to build the game with our players. Players feedback will be essential in helping us refine the balance of crafting and survival progression, and decide which features to prioritize as we build towards the full version.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to be in Early Access for at least 12-18 months. However, this timeframe may change depending on player feedback and the new features we add. We will exit Early Access when we are confident the game is a polished, stable, and complete experience.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full 1.0 version of DISTANT VISITANT will be a more polished and expanded experience. While the Early Access version provides the core gameplay loop, we plan to add much more content. Our roadmap includes:

An expanded main story: New quests, characters, and lore to fully uncover the mystery of the collapse and the alien presence.

Deeper NPC survivor systems: More complex needs, skills, personalities, and interactions for your community members.

More crafting & base-building: Advanced tiers of machinery, defenses, and base customization options.

A larger world: New biomes, unique locations, and more secrets to discover.

More threats: New alien enemy types and other hazards to challenge your survival skills.

Additional content: More items, weapons, vehicles, and farming/hunting options.

Full polish & optimization: We will continue to fix bugs, optimize performance, and refine the user experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version features a stable, playable core of DISTANT VISITANT. Players can:

Explore a large open-world map.

Manage core survival mechanics (hunger, thirst, health).

Hunt, forage, farm, and scavenge for resources.

Craft a wide range of tools, weapons, and base components.

Build and upgrade a custom base.

Recruit initial survivors and assign them basic tasks.

Defend against the first set of alien enemy threats.

Explore on foot or on horseback.

Encounter and battle initial boss-level enemies.

As this is an Early Access title, players should expect bugs, performance limitations, and systems that are still being balanced. Player feedback on these elements is exactly why we're here.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to offer the game at a lower price during Early Access to thank our early supporters for joining us on this journey. We intend to gradually raise the price as we add significant new content and features, with a final price increase upon the full 1.0 release.

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are committed to being active and transparent throughout development. The two best places to be involved are our Discord server and the Steam Forums.

We will be closely monitoring these channels for all feedback, bug reports, and suggestions. We plan to post regular updates to keep our community informed of our progress and future plans. We see our players as vital partners in shaping DISTANT VISITANT, and we look forward to hearing players' ideas and feedback.”

About This Game

EXPLORE A SHATTERED WORLD

The world you knew is gone. A sudden collapse left civilization in ruins—communication is dead, supplies are dwindling, and the streets are silent.

In DISTANT VISITANT, you explore a vast, top-down open world from ravaged suburbs to dark industrial sectors. Scavenge abandoned homes for resources, rescue stranded survivors, and piece together the mystery of the arrival. But be warned: strange sounds echo through the empty streets, and vague shapes patrol the night. The cities may look empty, but you are never truly alone.

 DEFEND AGAINST THE UNKNOWN

You are no longer at the top of the food chain. Strange sounds fill the night, and vague shapes patrol the streets. Their behavior defies reason, and they are hunting you.

  • Tactical Combat: Master a deadly arsenal of firearms and melee weapons to defend your territory. But choose your fights wisely—ammo is scarce and gunshots attract unwanted attention.

  • The Visitors: These are not normal enemies. Prepare for encounters with entities that are far from human. You must uncover the mystery of their arrival while defending against their aggressive patrols.

Make Hard Choices: You will encounter hurt and lost survivors in the ruins. It is up to you to decide—risk your life to answer their pleas or walk away to ensure your own survival.

SURVIVE THE SEASONS

The environment is just as deadly as the visitors. In DISTANT VISITANT, survival is a complex balancing act where the world changes around you.

  • Deep Simulation: Manage five core survival needs—Energy, Hunger, Hydration, Bladder, and Hygiene. Neglecting your cleanliness or diet will weaken your survivor.

  • Prepare for the Cold: A fully dynamic weather system brings harsh winters that freeze lakes and kill crops. You must stockpile food, fuel and water to endure the season.

  • Dynamic Conditions: Rain, fog, and snowstorms impact visibility and movement. Plan your expeditions carefully getting lost in a blizzard with low energy can be fatal.

BUILD, CRAFT, AND ADAPT

Hiding in abandoned ruins will only get you so far. To truly survive, you must claim territory and build a facility capable of sustaining you.

  • Build Your Fortress: Construct a custom base to house your supplies and protect against the cold. You need a secure, covered location to operate the workstations required for survival.

  • Active & Passive Crafting: How you work is up to you. Manually operate your workstations to gain XP and trigger quality bonuses or queue up your crafting and walk away to explore while the work continues in the background.

  • Workstation Upgrades: A bench is only as good as its tools. Find or craft unique tools—like vices, anvils, or precision sets—and equip them to your workstations to unlock advanced recipes and higher tiers of crafting.

MASTER YOUR SURVIVOR

You are not born a soldier. In DISTANT VISITANT, you only get better at what you actually do.

  • Action-Based Progression: Your character's proficiency evolves based on usage. To reach higher levels in Cooking, you must cook. To improve at Marksmanship, you must fight.

  • Specialized Mastery: Open the comprehensive Talent UI to track your progress across distinct categories: Ranged Weapons, Melee Combat, and Life Skills. As you gain proficiency, you earn skill points to unlock new skills.

The visitors are here. No help is coming. Can you survive the DISTANT VISITANT?
