What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As we ramped up production of this first season of FOO, we realized that we still have a lot of work left to do, and would appreciate feedback from the community as that continues.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Until the show is ready for mainstream audiences and is feature complete (clients for Oculus and Steam, plus an integrated 2D client for non-VR users).”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will feature regular episodes of The FOO Show, as well as some other surprises we have planned.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Everything works, but we're missing key components (music, credits, some cues, etc).”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We don't intend to change the price during early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We're going to collect feedback on new features and techniques that we try, as we explore the frontier of TV-like content in VR.”

2 New Episodes + 2D Version and Windows MR Support Out Now!

We've got two new episodes up on Steam right now. We published Episode 3: Making Nanomachines with DNA featuring Shawn Douglas and Jason Brown a few weeks ago. Join us as we shrink from Shawn's lab in San Francisco all the way down to nano-scale to see how scientists can manufacture custom strands of DNA using phages.

Episode 4 takes us all into a VR representation of Adam Savage's shop with Adam and Norm from Tested, where you can take an extremely close look at some of Adam's favorite props, including an Apollo-era space suit, a replica of the Maltese Falcon, and his Admiral Ackbar mask. We also discuss the 3D scanning process and dig into Adam's inspiration for recreating his favorite film props.

With this update, we've also upgraded the technical backend for The FOO Show. Our 2D client, for people who don't have VR is now fully-featured and ready for everyone to use. You'll need a gamepad to control the camera, but you can access it by right-clicking on 'The FOO Show" in Steam and selecting the "Play 2D version" option.

We also support Windows MR headsets in beta form. You'll need to have the Windows Mixed Reality tools installed in Steam for it to work. Once you launch the game, you can use the trackpad to teleport and rotate and the trigger to pick things up.

If you enjoy the episode, please leave us a review on Steam! It's the best thing you can do to ensure we're able to make new episodes!

No VR Required!

Now The FOO Show works even if you don't have a VR headset! Grab your gamepad and explore the world of Adam Savage's shop, the Firewatch watch tower, the Quadrilateral Cowboy Lair, Total War: Warhammer 2's minions, and the microscopic world of DNA nanomachines on a normal monitor, just like one of those new-fangled video games.

Beta Windows Mixed Reality Support!

With this release, we've added experimental support for Windows Mixed Reality headsets. In our limited testing, Windows MR devices work fine. Click the thumbpad to teleport and click the edges of the pad to turn (if you have a 180 or standing-only setup).
