Hvorfor tidlig tilgang?

«The game is pretty fun and functions fine, however it's quite simple and lacks a cohesive overall theme. I want to focus on honing that theme but I'm not quite sure what kinds of things people will enjoy about the game and hopefully having people play it will elucidate that somewhat. Technically, the game was trivial to make but I am somewhat uncertain what direction to take it in. Having it available to people in e.a. will bring both valuable suggestions and feedback. »

«To be clear, not a world of changes. This game is intended to stay on the simpler side. The main things I want to add over time are more enemy variety and a big rebuild of the level generation. I always loved in some games how there were little pockets of unique biomes and things to find and curious flora and fauna; and secrets. I'd like to push towards that kind of game but it'll take some revisions of the generation plus a bunch more blocks, enemies, items, and biome types to really make it work. Adding more types of those things is just a matter of having some good ideas, which can take a while!»

Hva er nåværende tilstand for versjonen i tidlig tilgang?

«Game works and can be played normally with no terrible bugs but is simply underdeveloped. Everything that is shown in the screen shots and videos is already done but may be changed. There is a simple story, options, world saves, a boss, around 10 different robes with unique sets of stats and spells associated. There's also 10+ block types and 8 spells, some of which can be seen in the trailer. You can fight and build as shown already and even "beat" the game by killing the boss and viewing a cutscene but it's still simple for now. There's several world generation types, some simple game modifiers like bomb rain and hordes of enemies, and a few biomes to explore or dig through.»

«Nope! I just want to get a game into players hands and see how they like it. Price won't change at any point.»

«My vision for Voidwell is a game with a base of fun, gamey mechanics built on with some cool artsy design that feels like something unique while being simple. I am always watching the feedback on my games too, whether on socials or here, and love when people have suggestions for things to add. I check them all..!»

Om spillet

Voidwell is a quaint sandbox, spell slinging, mining roguelike. Fight enemies, find tools, spells, and secret items, and grapple with a dark truth about your place in the void.

You can generate massive worlds and customize them to your liking, enable "goofy" items, change the style, and enable wacky modifiers like bombs raining from the sky, multiplied enemy spawns, and corrupting biomes. 

The gameplay is platformer based in 2d "block based" worlds with biomes and enemies spawning randomly. You can make use of tools, magic spells, and bombs, ect to make your way down to the dark depths of the world where you may find strong and mysterious items but also powerful entities. 

While there is a strong focus on mining and building for fun there is no crafting or item management. Dying might lose you a good item but you won't have to collect thousands of blocks for a base.

This game is still in development, more to come as we decide where to take it and what would be fun while keeping the game simple to pick up and enjoy.

There is pixelated fantasy violence and blood along with dismemberment in the worm enemies however it is simplified and cartoony. The cutscenes also includes some text allusions to violence or (pixelated) blood stains at times.
