Why Early Access?

“We want to get people playing the game to help us find ways to improve our UI/UX. We'd also like to improve our emulation suite and add enhanced features that are important to players. We need feedback from players to better understand what matters to them when playing retro games like this.
Additionally, this is not a standard platformer where you just jump on enemies and avoid pitfalls, there's plenty of combat and upgrades you earn along the way. Feedback from players will help us better understand if these elements are balanced and progress naturally. ”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“2 Months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We hope to add new features that will make the overall frontend experience better for players as well as identify bugs in the game itself and ways to improve general gameplay. We hope to be able to add things like rewind, save states, scanline filters, new borders, etc... We're looking for input on both aesthetics and functionality. ”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The build is fully playable, start to finish. All combat moves and upgrades are implemented in the build. We're curious to see how player utilize them, alone and in combination. We have space for tweaks to these move and additional ones if needed. Buit as it stands, all combat enancements and moves are viable.
Also, there are broom ride schmup sections in the game that are an entirely new feature to the series. We're interested in expanding this once we have player feedback on it.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We'd like feedback on the frontend, UI/UX mostly, and any desired advanced features that would enhance the experiece. ”

After 10 years of NES development as Retrotainment Games, we've completed the Haunted: Halloween trilogy!
'87 was released on cartridge for our backers, just in time for Halloween. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this to game and series to life! Especailly those who've been with us since '85 ;)

October 31st, 1987: Every fall, folks come to Possum Hollow from miles around for the county fair. Hay rides, hot chocolate and carnival games are on everyone's mind; everyone but Donny and Tami. The past two years they’ve battled an onslaught of evil that’s overrun their beloved town on Halloween night, and they know this year will be no different.

Since learning of the town's curse, they've been researching its dark past and honing their combat skills, preparing for whatever may come. But this year, something feels different, something strange is in the air...
