You are the bastion of justice and the law, a last line of defence against ne’er do wells and villains entering your castle. They take many forms and it is your task to root out these malcontents before they can enter your stronghold. Become the Gate Guard you were born to be.

Be they peasant or noble lord, if they want entry to the castle there’s nothing better than a true seal of the land to prove their worth. Sometimes they’ll just be travelling through, other times they’ll claim to have an appointment - your job is to check that any crests on their documents are real and not forgeries, lest the wrong person gain access to your stronghold.

Hard times hit the kingdom now and then, and lead to some people taking desperate measures. That merchant didn’t MEAN to leave those bottles of wine at the bottom of the wagon, it was an honest mistake. It’s well known that rabbits are prohibited, but letting them go this one time couldn’t hurt? And surely one little sword hidden away in a chest isn’t a big issue? 

No two citizens of the kingdom are alike, and you’ll need to choose the right set of tools to verify their story. Your halberd will sort out whether those cabbages are the only thing in the farmer’s cart. A quick sniff will help deduce if that man has a mole or a boil. And maybe a sprinkling of holy water on the mysterious coffin is good practice, even if the grieving widow promises there’s nothing wrong with it?
