What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are launching Colorado Rail Game in Early Access to get the core experience into your hands sooner. It allows us to gather crucial player feedback and let the community help us prioritize and build out the full, rich world and experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate that Colorado Rail Game will be in Early Access until mid-2026. This timeline allows us to thoroughly incorporate the valuable community feedback we receive.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Colorado Rail Game is planned as a significant expansion of the content and features established in Early Access, transforming a robust core experience into a complete journey from user feedback from Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Please see the "About this game" section for the current state of early access game features that have been fulfilled and are in the game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to offer the game at a lower, introductory price during the Early Access period to thank early supporters for joining the community and providing valuable feedback. We will use the early access game sales to progress and grow the game.

Upon the full release, we plan a modest price increase to reflect the significantly expanded content, the completion of major development goals, and the successful integration of community-driven features. This increased price will help fund our long-term vision, including the continued addition of new content, features, and the eventual development of new passenger rail routes around the world.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“📢 Direct Feedback and Idea Collection
We want continuous community input. Players can directly report bugs, share ideas, discuss features, and vote on content, allowing us to rapidly iterate based on active player feedback. We are interested in what players want to include like local food, culture, history, and natural sights. This ensures that a diverse range of regional knowledge informs the game's development.

Steam Community Page: We will highlight announcements, discussions and share milestone for users to keep track of game development.

Discord Server: Our Discord community will be the central hub for daily interaction.

Website Form: We are utilizing a custom form on our website to proactively solicit Colorado-focused ideas for in-game content,

🤝 Collaboration with Advocacy and Non-Profit Groups
To ensure historical accuracy and cultural authenticity, we are actively reaching out to advocacy groups and non-profits dedicated to:

Preserving History: Collaborating with these organizations will allow us to accurately depict historical events, landmarks, and the stories of the regions the train passes through.

Education: Working with educational groups will help us present the cultural and environmental information in the brochures and dialogues in a thoughtful and engaging manner.

Advocating for Better Transportation: Consulting with transportation advocates ensures our rail mechanics and future vision for the game remain grounded in real-world feasibility and appreciation for train travel.

This collaborative approach allows the community to contribute not just as players, but as co-curators of the game's educational and cultural content.”

About This Game

Welcome to the Journey

A journey told through places, people, and moments. This is a slow travel experience where you travel by train, step into new cities, and decide how to spend your time — exploring locations, meeting locals, visiting landmarks, or simply observing the world around you.

There are no timers pushing you forward and no perfect routes to follow. Your journey unfolds through small choices, quiet discoveries, and meaningful moments.

Choose your Character

Each character experiences the journey in their own way. Their interests define which places bring them the most happiness. Some enjoy culture and history. Others prefer food, nature, social moments, or adventure. Choosing a character means choosing how you want to travel.

Travel By Train

The train is your main hub during the journey.
Here you can relax, talk to passengers, eat, and prepare for the next stop. Many discoveries begin on the train — through conversations and shared stories.

Discover Places Though People

Not all destinations appear on the map. Many places are discovered through conversations, brochures, and stories. Talking to people is one of the most important ways to learn where to go next. Some locations stay hidden until you hear about them. Curiosity often leads to the most memorable moments.

Explore the City Map

Choose where to go next. When you arrive at a city, you can step off the train and explore. The city map shows places you can visit — both known and unknown. When you arrive at a city, you can step off the train and explore. The city map shows places you can visit — both known and unknown.

Visit Places of Interest

Every place offers a unique experience. Each location has its own story, atmosphere, and activities. Some places invite you to explore deeply, others to simply observe. How much you enjoy a place depends on your character’s preferences. The more meaningful the visit, the more happiness you gain.

Capture Moments and Stories

Memories matter more than efficiency. Some places allow you to take photos or collect stories. These moments become part of your journey and your diary. Not every experience needs to be optimized.
Some memories are valuable simply because they happened.

Rest, Eat, and Slow Down

Taking care of yourself is part of the journey. Travel isn’t only about moving forward.
Eating, resting, and slowing down help maintain your happiness. Hunger won’t end your journey, but ignoring it will affect how you feel. Don't forget to stock up on food and visit train shop to keep your character's satisfaction level high.

Hotels and Rest

A place to pause and reset. As evening comes, most places in the city close. Hotels are a safe place to slow down, rest, and prepare for the next day. Here you can: Sleep until morning, eat at the restaurant, take a short walk nearby. Resting doesn’t give bonus happiness, but it helps stabilize your journey and keeps your rhythm balanced.

Keep Your Travel Diary

Your journey is written as you go. Your travel diary records what you discover: places, photos, badges, and memorable moments. Some pages stay empty — waiting for future trips. Others slowly fill with experiences worth remembering.
