About This Game

Guilt Trip is an exercise of restraint.

At the Heartburn Diner, under cold veil of moonlight, something important is stolen from inside.

Under normal circumstances, this would be the point where you, playing the role of detective, would investigate the crime to uncover exactly what happened behind closed doors.

...But that is not the case in Guilt Trip.

You get to play as the criminal themselves, desperately trying to cover their tracks before the people following it can figure out what you did. But it's alright, you've come to learn their minds are... simple... Malleable...

They rely on YOU to set the facts straight for them, and as long as you can stay in their drivers seat... YOU get to decide what the truth is. All it's going to take is a little creative thinking, a little guilt tripping, and you can go home and forget everything you ever did. It shouldn't be hard... but Fate, Luck, God, or whoever the hell it is watching over you... hasn't made this job easy.

Because, although you're lucky to be someone the average person would trust...

Nothing about this case could be described as "average".

...Ah, right.

Well, if I could take off my poet's coat for a moment...

Guilt Trip is a visual novel about memory. It may not be a mystery from your perspective, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be paying attention. In order to win, you need to keep a mental note of everything that did and didn't happen inside the Heartburn Diner. If you can do this, when it comes time for questioning, you'll know exactly how to bend the facts to your favor.

The questioning will come in the form of various "Pin the Blame" segments. These are parts of the story where your character will need to come up with an alternate theory on the fly to divert attention away from themselves. You will be given question after question, with multiple choice answers to pick through, most of which are just distractions to get you off course. If you can think outside of the box, and get each question right(?), you might just be able to convince all of them of your "innocence".

Although, as the name suggests... someone else is going to have to take the fall if you make it through.

While it is mostly linear, there are a few alternate stops to see on the road to the game's ultimate destination. If that sounds like a good time, there's no need to stress about seeing everything in one go! After completing the game's canon ending, you will unlock an "Hour Select" that will let you rewind the clock and replay various sections of the story. The narrative road should take around 3 hours to travel across...but, if you're in the mood for sight-seeing, that could go up to 5 or 6. Just be careful not to get yourself totaled on the way there... or set your wheels ablaze and huff the fumes.

...Sorry, I guess I still have my coat on.

But it's cold, and it's only been getting colder! ...Maybe you'll be the one to do something about it?

Of course not, that isn't your job! Don't forget what your role in all of this is!

If you're going to remember ANYTHING, remember that.

Besides... a little cold never bothered anyone.

Guilt Trip contains certain scenes, subject matter, and dialogue that will be disturbing to general audiences. If that sounds like too much for you, don't worry! You can just turn yourself in the first chance you get and stop there!

...But, if you're really intent on getting away with the crime, and seeing how far you can push yourself...

Well, you have been warned.
