About This Game

An aggressively kinetic keyboard slappin' rhythm game.

This game makes use of your entire keyboard. There are keyboard shortcuts which are handled by your operating system that you may inadvertently trigger while playing this game. For the best experience you WILL need to rebind certain keyboard keys using external software.

Many modern gaming keyboards support these features, but double-check your keyboard for these requirements. You will need a keyboard that supports:

N-key rollover

Hardware level key rebinding

It will be difficult to enter the FLOW state this rhythm game offers if you have any hesitations while SLAPPIN'.

ARCADE-LIKE INPUT

The essence of slapTrax focuses on an intuitive input system that matches the layout of your keyboard. There are six lanes which map to six different regions on your keyboard. Simply hit any one of the keys in that region to register a hit. No need to look down to check which keys you're pressing, just SLAP the general area!

Both 60% and full-size keyboards are supported with default keybindings. There is a key customization utility to manually assign any keys to any region, supporting any layout your exotic keyboard may have. 

As a result of this input system, instead of being fixed to a few keys, slapTrax encourages your hands to float and glide around your keyboard. This leads to expressive and intense hand patterns not possible in other PC rhythm games.

GLOVES?

The game features three difficulties which correspond to the hand-wear recommended for that level.

BARE

Start off simple with the BARE difficulty and simply slap your keyboard bare-handed while you get accustomed to the input system.

GLOVE

Once mastered, don a pair of cotton gloves and ascend to the GLOVE difficulty. This is when swipe type notes are introduced, which require you to quickly swipe your hand across your keyboard from one region to another.

SLAP!

Finally, for the true slappers, graduate to the SLAP! level charts which push your slapping skills to the ultimate test. Depending on your keyboard, you might even consider wearing TWO sets of cotton gloves for these complex swipe and cross-hand patterns. You will need to have refined your keyboard slapping technique to have a chance at succeeding at this level.
