Turtle River Arena is a Roguelike JRPG where you take on the role of a criminal-turned-Combatant fighting for your freedom in the mysterious Arena. 

Take on a multi floor combat gauntlet full of surprises and challenges!

Turn your lowly criminal into an arena annihilating powerhouse! 

Every floor completed will give you new skills, gear, and followers to power up your party! 

But beware: death is permanent and none of your power or progress carries over to the next run!

--Combat--

Turtle River Arena brings a familiar Active Time Battle combat system into the modern day! 

Control your party of 3 and manipulate the battlefield and the ATB gauge to wreak havoc on your foes! 

Powerful abilities and on attack statuses will make every decision a critical one: Do you taunt the most dangerous enemy while buffing your party? Do you attack every enemy with your axe whirlwind of bleeding death? Or should you use your fast effect to poison one foe and follow it up with a massive bio bomb to KO him in one hit? 

--Progression--

Every run you will be given a choice between different skills, gear and followers for a unique experience every time. 

Will you be a dual wielding, steel skinned death dealer? Will you be a poison pelting archer with crowd control and healing? An elementalist spellcaster that taunts foes and shields himself from damage with barriers based on your MP bar? The possibilities are endless! 

You will get power ups that  permanently increase your damage with certain weapon types, inflict statuses on attack, give you defences, and more. 

--Loot--

Collect Enchanted, Rare, Unique, and Set weapons and armor to gearyour arena combatant.

While loot is randomly distributed, it is not randomly generated. Every piece of loot was hand crafted by a passionate developer and meant to make you say "Holy ****". 

Weapons and armor will give you a chance to inflict statuses on your foes. A poison knife, a bleeding axe, a blinding spear, a mind controlling time rod made by an Ancient God? 

Every piece of gear will offer a certain playstyle and will synergize with certain skills. You can also equip 8 different weapons at once and swap to them freely in combat. Building a spear character with +Ballistic damage but you just got a cool Cryo Mace that freezes enemies on hit? You can carry both! The defensive stats on your last used weapon carry over until your next turn, so be careful going for that kill shot with your dagger while the enemy prepares their heavy attack!

--Story--

Why do we send prisoners to fight in the arena? There are no spectators, and freedom is the prize? Why would they release a convicted criminal? 

Where is the arena and why does it have such a varied layout? What are these "Cheds" that we fight and why are they so dangerous? 

Turtle River Arena is a precursor to a full JRPG set in the same universe and sets the stage for a grand adventure to unfold. 

While the focus of the game is on combat, we have packed in as much lore and story as we can!

--Style and Inspirations--

Classic pixel art style reminiscent of classic Final Fantasy. Gear and abilities inspired by Diablo 2. 

Classic Roguelike - start each run fresh with no power carry over.

All music was produced in house by the development team. Psychedelic metal with celtic and contemporary influences.
