About This Demo

The Island of Doctor Morose is yours to play, for a limited time only! From now until November 20, experience a sneak peak of what Greatmaw Island has in store! This short demo allows you to play most of what we consider to be the first chapter of the full game. You'll solve puzzles, manage your resources, and experience some of the lore of the full game and it's world!

You play as Howard, a man on a desperate search to find his missing friend, Phillip. However, in order to reach Phillip, you'll first have to find a way past the odd gate blocking entry to Greatmaw Manor. In this free demo, you'll be attempting to open the gate and get inside the Doctor's massive mansion, all while interacting with multiple NPCs, enemies, and your very mind! (In the full game, the manor and areas beyond it will be available to explore, along with more NPCs, enemies, and puzzles!)

・Brave terrors beyond human comprehension in a brand new world inspired by the literary works of HG Wells, HP Lovecraft, and by the artwork of Theodor Geisel!

Run away or stay and fight in larger spaces filled with monsters using active WASD movement and mouse-based combat!

Pick your battles to stay alive. Stay undetected or fight in brutal struggles against horrors beyond comprehension! ...and crocodiles, which are also here!

・The full game will feature even more enemies, but in the demo, you can encounter up to five unique monster types depending on how well you explore the map!

Keep a close eye on your inventory as you manage limited recourses like oil, rocks, and Zazzmarink fuses!

Keep your sanity in check as you traverse dark labyrinths, searching desperately for a way to shine a light through the darkness!

・Explore a small section of a fully hand drawn, 2D world, full of bizarre creatures and quirky characters, brought to life with rhyming text and animated using traditional techniques!

・ Carefully examine your surroundings in smaller, more detailed areas. Find clues to solve traditional point n' click puzzles as you try to keep safe from the horrors of Greatmaw Island!

・Immerse yourself in a world where everything has a name, every task is accomplished with impossible machinery, and every new area feels unique!

・Experience shifting perspectives as you play, with top down, side scrolling, and even some brief first person segments!

・Find hidden notes and solve optional extra point n' click puzzles to uncover deeper secrets and a hidden, optional item! The full game will include many more of these, so this is just a taste of what's to come!

The full game will be around 4 times the length of this demo, which we expect to last most players around 90 minutes if they wish to see everything there is to see! The demo provides a preview of the full experience, which we feel will help players like you understand the unique gameplay and engaging world of The Island of Doctor Morose!

This is a single player only experience, and controllers are not yet supported (we plan to work on controller support sometime after the release of the full game).
