About This Demo

A puzzle platformer about turning failure into progress, inspired by the developer's struggles with cycles of manic highs and depressive lows.

You’re an anonymous individual trapped inside a dream-like dimension, with no clear way out.

But something has changed, and from somewhere a dog has appeared. It seems to want to guide you forward. However, the path ahead is full of deadly traps… and your only real ability? To fail.

Fortunately for you, there are mysterious orbs dotted around that let you leave a fragment of yourself behind. What remains will become barriers against hazards or platforms paving your way forward.

Fail and fail again, until you succeed. Persistence and clever thinking is the only way out of this place.

Demo Features

This demo is a condensed preview version of the full game. It contains all of the same core features; just a lot fewer levels, a smaller lobby, minimal narrative, and no ending.

Fail Fail Succeed makes failing strategically the challenge, rather than avoiding traps. You have to embrace failure to navigate the environment and solve puzzles. Fail, reflect on the new possibilities, adapt, and try again.

Did you fail too much? Fear not! With quick resets, the game encourages you to experiment, fail, and try again.

Deadly, complex puzzles
With 40+ handcrafted puzzles in the main game, difficulties range from "easy-breezy" to hair loss frustration. Put your creative problem solving to the test, and discover all the ways to fail!

Creative solutions
You goal is to puzzle out a sequence of purposefully positioned failures and construct a new path through a deadly environment, by making creative use of a limited set of tools.

Dog(s)!
Choose between multiple dogs to be your guide and source of comfort, in an otherwise bleak world. Is your dog missing? Contact us and we will try to remedy that!

Background

Originally conceived during while a student, Fail Fail Succeed grew from feelings of being stuck in a cycle of manic highs and hard crashes. The mechanics were designed as metaphors for those struggles: failure as an inevitable outcome, but traces of progress being left behind. In a bleak world of exhausting repetition, small comforts in the companionship of a loyal pup often became a guiding light.

Fail Fail Succeed is developed by a single developer. What began as a small weekend project, slowly grew after positive feedback, was further developed for GGC and SGA, and is now finally coming to Steam for everyone to play!
