Big Apple Railroading takes a turn north for the third installment of Northeast Corridor in Train Sim World - next stop: Stamford! Go dual-voltage with the hard-working Metro-North M8 on commuter runs out of Grand Central Terminal, traverse Hells Gate Bridge and dive into New York Penn Station aboard Amtrak® services, and keep industries moving with the CSX SD40-2.

What is shared today by both Metro-North and Amtrak, the winding section of Northeast Corridor that heads north towards Connecticut, was built by the New York and New Haven Railroad in the 1840s. Following the path of the Long Island Sound, the route was designed to offer a direct land-based line to New York (cutting water-based journey times significantly). Following mergers, electrification and modernisation, the rest is history, and the line became part of the busiest passenger corridor in the US.

In Train Sim World 6, become an engineer aboard the varied duties of New York’s passenger & freight network. Take charge of limited stop expresses, deadhead movements and all-stop commuter runs. Go from seeing the Big Apple skyline on the distant horizon to being nestled among the Harlem neighbourhood. Cross the iconic Hell Gate Bridge, serve both levels of Grand Central, and explore the local freight industries.

You are welcomed aboard two notable passenger trains of modern NEC operations; the Metro-North M8 and Amtrak ACS-64. Across a diverse schedule sprouting from two New York terminals, weave through the suburbs with a variety of stopping patterns. Indulge in a flavor of freight with the venerable SD40-2, sporting the colors of CSX; get to work on switching and local deliveries, trash train ops, and mainline runs between the bustling passenger schedule. Embark on additional duties with Amtrak’s Acela ®, work around Metro-North M3A and M7A Harlem Line traffic, and tackle additional freight with cars from Horseshoe Curve (each available separately).

We’ve been working closely with the licensor to bring you an immersive, but safe representation of the route. This means there are a few adjustments to the experience on board the Metro-North M8, including Safety Systems (ATC, ACSES & Alerter) being always enabled, and adjusted in-cab controls.
