Why Early Access?

“The Hollow Alchemist is a narrative-driven roguelike deckbuilder with a lot of moving parts: cards, dice mechanics, companions, and a big story across thirteen nations. Early Access lets us shape the game together. I want to make sure the combat feels sharp, the cards feel fun to experiment with, and the story unfolds in a way that keeps players hooked. Community feedback is the best way to make that happen.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The plan is about 12 months, depending on how much content and polish we can pack in along the way. The roadmap may shift a little if inspiration (or chaos) strikes, but the goal is to leave Early Access with the full story, all nations, and every Regalia of Sin in place. We are also a very small team so it is hard to predict how long we might need.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full release will hope to archive to have finished all thirteen nations, each with unique events and lore. The complete storyline with every Humunculi of Sin encounter and ending as well as a full set of cards, relics, and dice faces (120+ cards planned)
As well as a satisfying amount og companion interactions and puzzles.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version already includes:

- Core combat with dice-based mana and elemental decks
- 3 nations to explore with some events, villages, and encounters
- Several Regalia of Sin to face and their Marks to claim
- Companion summoning and and some dialogue for them
- A good chunk of cards, buffs, debuffs, and relics

It’s fully playable in a way, but expect ongoing balancing, new content drops, and quality-of-life updates as we go.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, Early access will be up to half the price of the full game because lets face it, gamedev is hard and expensive and we consider early access player as backers to our vision and they should be rewarded for that!”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Feedback is everything... I know everyone says that... but for good reason! Players can share ideas and suggestions through the Steam forums and Discord — whether it’s balance tweaks, wild card ideas, or story theories. I’ll be posting regular updates, patch notes, and polls so the community has a voice in shaping the game.”

About This Game

The world was broken by hubris. Alchemists once tried to create perfect life, and their failures left scars across every nation. The result where the Humunculi — beings born from sin, each embodying pride, wrath, greed, and more.

You play as Fumiko, a homunculus unlike the others. She is a blank slate, born without sin, searching for what it means to be human. Along her journey, she’s joined by companions with their own voices, histories, and reasons to travel east. Together you’ll cross deserts, jungles, ruined kingdoms, and holy empires — each with its own sayings, traditions, and secrets.

Gameplay

At its core, The Hollow Alchemist is a roguelike deckbuilder. Combat is fast but thoughtful, built around elemental combos, buffs, debuffs, and companions. Every run offers new choices, new cards, and new fragments of story to uncover.

Proper Alchemy

Water buff extinguish Burns - Wind buffs increases your Burn - Earth buffs absorbs water etc. etc.

you get the idea... all your buffs interact with each other as it is proper alchemy at works during the fights!!!

Evolve

The road isn’t just about battles. On the nodemap eastward you’ll stumble into quiet villages, war-torn ruins, and the occasional eccentric homunculus who insists on testing you with puzzles that are… let’s say, creatively designed.

Each Sin you confront leaves a mark. Marks grant you power, but they also change you. The more you use them, the more their voices creep into your own. The challenge is not only to survive — it is to decide what kind of being you will become.

Beyond the standard cards, you can also create your own. Unleash your creativity and combine the four elements however you like!

About This Game

The Hollow Alchemist is inspired by the roguelikes we all love but leans, at least a bit more into narrative. Cards aren’t just numbers — they’re fragments of alchemy, each tied to an element and a reaction. Buffs and debuffs stack in different ways, from steady burns to sudden collapses. 

The story matters as much as the fights. This isn’t a faceless roguelike loop — it’s a journey about identity, sin, and humanity, with companions who bring their own perspective to the world. Some moments are light and colorful, others dark and reflective.

Yes, it’s a game about building decks. But more than that, it’s a game about building a future.
