What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I am currently a Master’s student in Game Design and Development, and REDSHIFT is both my BS Graduation portfolio project and a passion project. Early Access provides a chance to share the game with players while it’s still fresh, gather real feedback on the mechanics and refine the overall horror experience. This involvement not only helps shape REDSHIFT into a stronger release but also strengthens my development practice as I continue to grow as a designer and programmer.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect REDSHIFT to remain in Early Access for about 3 months, with a maximum of six months if additional polish and testing are required.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of REDSHIFT is already playable from beginning to end. The full release is planned to include bug fixes and performance optimization, the addition of more voice lines and polish to existing scenes, smoother transitions and pacing adjustments based on player feedback, and enhanced immersion through finalized audio and visual effects. The overall goal is to deliver a clean, polished horror experience from start to finish.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable front to back with all core mechanics and gameplay systems in place. However, there are a few known bugs, and some dialogue lines are currently missing or have placeholders. Despite this, the game is completely playable front to back. For a detailed list of features, please refer to the "About This" section.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No. REDSHIFT is a passion project and is free to play during Early Access and will remain free after full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is central to Early Access. I plan to involve players through a dedicated Discord server where they can share feedback and suggestions, as well as a bug report system that allows issues to be tracked and prioritized. Updates will be iterative and directly shaped by those reports, especially regarding pacing, scares, and other mechanics. As both a student and an indie developer, I want to use Early Access as a way to learn directly from players while also delivering a horror experience that feels fresh and memorable.”

About This Game

About This Game

Redshift is a short solo developed psychological narrative horror game where you close your eyes to reveal a hidden layer of reality, the REDSHIFT.

You play as Samuel Chase, a field technician sent by Northline Communications to restore power to a long‑abandoned military relay tower deep in the hills. The job feels routine, but is quickly revealed to be something much more. By activating the tower and starting the REDSHIFT, you reveal things that were never meant to be seen.

Key Features

Dual‑Reality Exploration
Open your eyes to see the familiar world, or close them to uncover see into the REDSHIFT: hidden objects, shifting images, strange messages, and something else that's following you.

A Focused Single‑Sitting Experience
Designed to be completed in 10 to 20 minutes, REDSHIFT delivers a tight, atmospheric story that can be explored in one play session.

Immersive Storytelling
Uncover the past through environmental details, radio transmissions, and tense dialogue with your dispatcher as the tower grows stranger.

A Living Soundscape
Dynamic audio, subtle interference, and noise create tension and signal danger long before you see it.

Multiple Endings
Make your choices. REDSHIFT has two distinct endings, and it will be up to you what decision you make. Will you run, or will you face Tower 7?

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Redshift is a psychological horror story experience intended for mature audiences. The game includes the following content:

* Intense atmospheric horror and sustained tension.
* Depictions of death, disturbing imagery, and implied violence.
* Themes of isolation, paranoia, and mental deterioration.
* References to a past casualty event.
* Brief, abstract visual sequences that may be unsettling or surreal.

Due to the game's heavy psychological themes and unnerving tone, it may not be suitable for players sensitive to horror.
