Early Development Information

This game is in Early Development by a team of 3 developers working toward a 2-level demo -- this is not yet a complete game. The goal of playtesting the game and ultimately releasing a small demo this early into development is to gain the critical support and interest of players like you, that is needed to transition development from a part-time passion project into a full-time, funded development process.

Rebel Core: Awakens is a fast paced action platformer inspired by classic jump-n-shoot games of the 16-bit era. Face off against the 8 Core Robotics in each of their own unique domains in any order you choose as you fight to rebalance a world overtaken by machines.

A 3-way "Rock-Paper-Scissors" combat mechanic brings fast paced, moment-to-moment decision making as you engage each enemy with the ideal attack (or defense!) balance between Ranged Attacks, Melee Attacks, and Shield Defenses.

Tight, responsive platforming and shooting gameplay reminiscent of the 16-bit era comes to life in a modern, fully-3d side-scrolling display ripe with wall climbing, platform hopping, chasm crossing, and lengthy pursuits both horizontal and vertical.

Work to defeat each of the 8 Core Robotics that rule over their own slice of the post-humanity world in any order to gain access to The Citadel, home of the The Council, the five Origin Cores that rule over all robot-kind. But is the Citadel their true resting place? Or are there challenging lands that lie beyond?

Experiment with which levels and bosses you'll beat first as defeating one may have a ripple effect that can change anything from minor to major elements of other levels. Different bosses that have been defeated will have an impact on other levels in the game - from cosmetic and story changes to significant and structural ones.

Gain powerful upgrades and abilities hidden throughout the levels and from defeating bosses, discover their strengths and weaknesses, and wield them to your advantage!

What is a classic platformer without a killer sound track? An homage to the 16 and 32-bit era, this synth metal OST trades midi for electric guitars and synthesizers, matching the action in a synthesis of retro and modern video game music.

In a world conquered by machines a lonely hero wakes to find themself in a long-abandoned, makeshift laboratory. The sole machine to rebel against the anti-human directive has spent years hidden away, quietly completing the final subroutines that have restored it to operational status.

Leaving behind the once crowded base of the human resistance, the Rebel Core steps out into a scorching wasteland, unsure of what will come ahead in the dangerous search for answers, atonement, and retribution.
