I’m using Early Access to build a multiplayer community -- since the 4-player versus mode is a core feature -- gather feedback, and continue developing new content over time. My goal is to provide episodic story updates and add to the versus mode with new characters and stages as development progresses. Join the journey as I bring this story to life! »

For the versus mode, my goal is to include a variety of play modes, expand the roster of playable characters with unique abilities, and introduce new stages that are thematically inspired by the story mode but designed distinctly for multiplayer. The exact scope of these additions will depend on development progress and player feedback. »

Paul Hubans is the developer behind MADHOUSE. With a passion for horror and retro games, he previously directed Night Manor and worked on several other games in UFO 50, a critically acclaimed indie collection by Mossmouth. MADHOUSE features an original soundtrack by esteemed chiptunesmith PaleDeth, known for creating tracker music in the demo scene since the 90s.

Players engage in bloody combat against zombies and other playable characters in a four-player versus mode, with pixelated blood splatter effects, and encounter dark cinematic moments, such as the main character’s wife being killed in the opening cutscene. Despite the cute presentation, the game includes mature themes: strong language (e.g., occasional use of ‘fuck’), depictions of tobacco use (a teenage NPC smokes and requests cigarettes in an optional side quest), which references to underage smoking, a topic that may be sensitive for some players. There are no depictions of sexual acts, sexual assault, drug abuse, alcohol, or self-harm.
