Whispers in the Fog is a first and third person, psychological horror experience focused on atmosphere, exploration, and unraveling a deeply personal mystery.

You awaken in a foggy rainy forest, your memory is a blank slate, armed with nothing but a flashlight. The thick, eerie woods pulse with haunting whispers. Shadowy figures dart through the mist at unnatural speeds, amplifying the dread of being utterly lost, with no map explore the vast surroundings. Follow faint whispers through the dense fog as you uncover clues scattered across decaying landmarks, forgotten trails, and eerie structures. Strange artifacts, torn journal pages, and cryptic symbols begin to reveal fragments of a hidden truth that challenges your perception of reality.

Each path leads to a deeper layer of the unknown. Abandoned villages, cursed tunnels, and rotting cabins hide puzzles and remnants of those who came before you... and never left. But be careful some voices guide you and others deceive. Shadow figures linger just beyond the trees, watching, waiting.

Gameplay

Players begin with nothing but a flashlight and a worn backpack, gradually collecting items, clues, and tools that aid in solving environmental puzzles scattered throughout a sprawling, open-ended forest. Each location whether an abandoned village, decaying asylum, or foggy cemetery tells its own silent story through visual storytelling and interactive elements.

Atmosphere and Lighting 

The atmosphere and lighting of the game will have realistic dynamic weather state that will change based on your location and points of interest. Every environment is crafted to evoke unease, isolation, and quiet dread where the fog is not just a visual element, but a character in itself.

From the moment players awaken in the rain soaked forest, the world feels heavy and uncertain. Light is scarce, filtered through clouds and mist, with only a flashlight to push back the darkness. Shadows stretch unnaturally. Hidden figures blend into the trees. Distant lights beacon but not always to safety.

Encounters and combat

There are no firearms. Survival relies on:

  • A flashlight used to reveal, repel, or disrupt threats

  • Improvised melee weapons such as pipes, crowbars, or axes

  • Careful positioning, timing, and awareness of your surroundings

Enemies are manifestations of fear, guilt, and unsettling, often better avoided than confronted. Combat is intentionally limited, emphasizing tension, vulnerability, and psychological pressure rather than action.
