Coming Soon To Early Access

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Bob’s Crystals is a quirky puzzle adventure, a unique tower defense-style minigame, and a story full of mysteries, atmospheric environments, and dryly comedic voice-overs—one for each level.

Early Access gives us the opportunity to improve the game with help from players: which levels shine, which frustrate, and what leaves you wanting more?

We also love building with the community. Players are encouraged to share ideas—or even build their own levels—as we work toward more unique challenges”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to release the full version of Bob’s Crystals on September 1st, 2025.

Until then, Early Access gives us a chance to polish the game, expand the level count, and fine-tune the experience with help from the community.

Of course, development won’t stop there — we’ll continue to post updates, refine gameplay and performance, and respond to feedback even after the full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We're releasing Bob's Crystals in Early Access to gather feedback and refine the experience as we go. The current version already offers a rich mix of action-platforming, puzzle-solving, and a bit of tower defense chaos, all wrapped in dry humor. But we’re far from done exploring the game’s potential.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
We’re aiming to expand and enhance the game based on player feedback and our development roadmap. Some of the areas we’re exploring include:

Additional levels to expand the journey

New puzzle mechanics to increase variety and challenge

Further development of the Marker Crystal Defense minigame, possibly including new enemy types and upgrade options

More voice-over content and dry humor integrated into new stages

Visual and performance polish, as well as ongoing difficulty tuning

We’re working toward a deeper, more polished version of Bob's Crystals, while preserving the quirky charm that makes it unique. However, the scope and timing of future additions may evolve over time.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Bob’s Crystals includes:

- 50 fully playable levels spread across multiple themed zones
- A working version of the Marker Crystal Defense minigame
- A consistent narrative with voice-over intros for every level
- Stable core mechanics with hours of puzzle-platforming gameplay

Players can also create and upload their own levels (after a quick registration), and play creations made by others. A basic ranking and rating system is already in place, so the best community content naturally floats to the top.

While most foundations are solid, some visuals and balancing are still being refined.

All future level updates and additions, both official and community-made, are downloaded automatically. No action needed.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, Bob’s Crystals will be priced the same during Early Access and after full release.

We want the game to be accessible to everyone at a fair, consistent price, no early bird tricks, no premium launch markup. Bob wouldn’t have it any other way.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We actively listen to player feedback via the Steam forums and plan to expand our communication channels as the community grows.

Community members can:

- Suggest improvements to level design, puzzles, and overall balance
- Submit their own custom levels (after registration)
- Play and rate levels made by other players
- Report bugs and share creative ideas

We’ll post regular development updates, highlight standout community creations, and shape Bob’s Crystals together with the people who play it.”

About This Game

A robot. A signal. A planet at risk.

Centuries after the alien technology that once protected Earth was forgotten, a deadly solar storm looms on the horizon. When a faint signal reactivates a long-dormant defense system, only one machine responds.

Meet BOB — a self-aware, surprisingly snarky robot with a mission: recover scattered crystals and reactivate ancient planetary defenses before it’s too late.

💠 Tile-Based Platforming

Navigate conveyor belts, fire zones, ice paths, and breakable floors in fast-paced, precision-focused levels.

🧠 Puzzle Logic Meets Action

Master teleporters, quicksand, and shifting conveyor patterns to outsmart every challenge — sometimes with brains, sometimes with quick feet.

🛡 Crystal Defense Mode

Defend the marker crystal against alien systems until it locks down. Dodge, weave, and survive in a hybrid between tower defense and arcade chaos.

🎙 Dual-Narrative System

Uncover Bob’s journey through:
– A male narrator who delivers atmospheric worldbuilding
– A female AI voice — Bob’s sarcastic consciousness — who offers hints, commentary, and comic timing

⚡ Marker Crystal Progression

Discover hidden components that enhance marker crystals and unlock new gameplay elements as you explore deeper into ancient systems.

🧱 Fully Integrated Level Editor

Use the same tools used to create the campaign. Build your own levels, play community creations, and share your best work — all from within the game.

🎶 Dynamic Electro Soundtrack

Experience a soundtrack that fuses retro chaos with modern pulse — synth-heavy, adaptive music that responds to your gameplay and changes with each level.

📈 Built with the Community, by a Solo Developer

Bob’s Crystals is being developed by a solo dev — yep, just one person handling the design, code, art, writing, and way too many cups of coffee. Early Access is an important step to gather feedback and keep the game growing in the right direction.

Development is ongoing, and areas currently being explored include:

  • Expanding the number and variety of levels

  • Introducing new puzzle mechanics to deepen gameplay

  • Iterating on the Marker Crystal Defense mode with potential new enemies and upgrade ideas

  • Adding more voice lines and narrative moments

  • Improving visuals, performance, and overall balance

There’s no fixed roadmap or guaranteed features — just a continued effort to improve and expand the experience with input from the community. If you enjoy quirky puzzle-platformers with attitude, come be part of shaping Bob’s Crystals.
