Why Early Access?

“Pirate Game! is an homage to the golden age of piracy spanning three centuries and the four great naval nations of that era. There are a lot of stories to tell and a lot of work left to do to bring the game to a complete level of functionality and quality. ”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game needs about 2 more years of development. This will be primarily divided into three branches of work: the additional playing modes for open-world, creating content-creation tools, and writing the remaining campaigns to play as Dutch, Spanish and French historical pirates, and eventually fantasy-based campaigns.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“A lot can change once player feedback starts being incorporated, but we plan to make what is currently in place "fuller" and enrich it with more functionality, animations, voice-overs, more character, ship, and port art. Better art.

Alongside these "quality of life" improvements we plan to implement more play-modes including an endless open world play-mode, land excursions, treasure maps, character inventories and items.

We also plan to implement fantasy-based campaigns that aren't tied to historical figures or limited to humans.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Three complete campaigns for British privateers set in the "Golden Age of Piracy", the 17th century.

Each of these campaigns take place at very different times during British colonization of the West Indies, with George Somers establishing the port of Bermuda in 1610, James Riskinner's adventures in the 1630s and Joseph Bannister's piracy in the 1680s.

As these historical figures you will lead your ships to battle against merchants, Spanish naval vessels and privateers, ports, and buccaneer strongholds through more than one hundred unique missions:

• George Somer's journey to Jamestown, after a hurricane destroyed his ship off the island that became Bermuda
  
• James Riskinner hunting Spanish ships from Providence in the 1640s amassing a fortune to return to England
  
• Joseph Bannister who absconded with "The Golden Fleece" in 1684 and raided the Spanish port of Campeche

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game may become more expensive after early access to reflect additional content and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will drive the development and prioritization of features for this game and may help improve any aspect of the game, from campaigns to artwork and voice overs, help is welcome.”
