What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access gives me the opportunity to gather valuable feedback from the community at an early stage and incorporate it directly into development.

My goal is to create the best possible experience together with the players. Through direct communication, I can make balancing adjustments, refine new features based on your suggestions, and ensure that the final game meets the expectations of the community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Early Access will continue until all features planned for version 1.0 have been implemented and thoroughly tested. I’m aiming to release the full version later this year – depending on the nature and scope of the feedback from the community.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is intended to offer players significantly more gameplay options and greater depth. New content, additional game mechanics, more variety in progression, and improvements in balancing and overall player experience are planned. The goal is to expand and refine the core systems based on community feedback gathered during the Early Access phase.

Planned for the full release:

- Deployment plans to increase mission rewards
- Active Orders (e.g., calling an airstrike); each deck can be equipped with one active ability
- Tactics that can be embedded into decks to provide passive bonuses
- Mission booster packs unlocking access to Orders, Tactics, Special Orders, and Deployment Plans

- New units and weapon systems

Because of the good progress in development, some of these features are already included in the Early Access version. I also plan to integrate newly completed features into the Early Access version as soon as possible.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is already highly playable and offers a solid core experience. All core features, planned Early Access content, and even parts of the full release are already integrated.

You can track the current development progress through detailed roadmaps (Core, Early Access, v1) available on the official website.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I’ve decided to keep the price the same during and after Early Access. Those who choose to support the game early will get access right away without any price increase later on.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'm developing this game as a solo developer, which makes the Steam community especially important to me. Your feedback helps me improve the game and steer it in the right direction.

The Steam community features provide a central hub for direct communication. Players can share their feedback, bug reports, and suggestions directly in the Steam forums. This gives me the opportunity to respond to posts and regularly share developer updates and patch notes through Steam announcements, keeping everyone informed about progress and planned changes. Community feedback plays a key role in prioritizing new features and improving the overall gameplay experience.

I truly appreciate every piece of feedback and every idea – it helps me tremendously in shaping the game further. Thank you for being part of this journey! 😊”

About This Game

Frontline Protocol is an RTS with deckbuilding and auto battler elements, entirely focused on cooperative PvE gameplay. You'll dive into a tactically rich card system: draw simultaneously from three freely selectable decks, rewarding specialization, deck planning, and player experience – and allowing you to precisely control each frontline.

Whether playing solo or in online co-op with up to three other players – every battle brings new challenges. You’ll share resources, spawners, and economy buildings. Players can choose to focus on specific roles, such as economy, defense, support, or aggressive line control with light infantry. Communication and timing are key – because what one player builds benefits the whole team.

As you progress through the game, you’ll earn Booster Credits, which can be used to purchase new card packs. These packs include new cards, temporary bonuses, and resources to further develop your decks. Certain cards can also be permanently upgraded once, reducing their deployment cost – creating long-term strategic depth instead of short-term optimization.

Each level-up grants you a skill point, which can be freely invested in passive bonuses – such as increased starting resources, a larger deck hand, or improved resource rates. Alongside card selection, this builds a growing meta-progression system that deepens your playstyle over time.

Experienced players can take on missions – randomly generated mini-campaigns with unique challenges. Completing them earns Mission Coins, which unlock special booster packs. These contain tactical plans, booster items, and other rewards that can be strategically used to optimize your loot.

With over 300 cards for units, buildings, towers, and special actions, you'll have everything you need to develop the playstyle that suits you best.
