About This Game

In an alternate reality cold war, a series of top-secret bioengineering experiments were conducted by the U.S. and U.S.S.R. which turned the frontier of combat into a battle for sub-nautical domination using genetically modified sea creatures. Gloctopus follows the story of a genetically modified octopus tasked with saving the world from mutually assured nuclear destruction. 

You play as an octopus that has been given super-cephalopodic intelligence, strength, and the ability to communicate with other sea creatures. You have also been given 8 U.S. government issued , one for each tentacle.

Your mission objective is cryptic, but simple in nature. Dive deep into the Pacific Ocean until you reach the ocean floor, where you are told that there is a nuclear-capable Soviet operative making its way towards America as we speak. You must reach the ocean floor and stop the Soviets in their tracks at all costs.

Through progressive exploration, you will encounter various types of enemies, upgrades, and new guns. Each time you enter into the depths, you will notice slight differences in gameplay that keep you coming back for more. 

Gloctopus is a 2D casual roguelike/lite shooter with bullet-hell elements and a unique user experience. The game loop consists of a procedurally generated world that presents itself differently on each fast-paced, challenging run, with little to no progression between runs other than the knowledge and experience gained by the player. In other words, each time you die, you must restart the game from the beginning, and your game state does not carry over after death.

The mechanics that set Gloctopus apart are the guns, and physics-based movement; more specifically the dynamics that arise between these two  systems. Since your gun-wielding tentacles are always trailing behind you, and you cannot move them individually other than by turning your whole body, the movement and aiming systems are tightly coupled. It is the mastery of this dynamic system that will define our user experience, and will keep players coming back over and over as their skill increases, and they can reach more difficult levels.
