What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Deadlock is being released in Early Access so players can experience the world as it grows and evolves. The game is ambitious — blending survival horror, exploration, and narrative depth — and Early Access allows us to gather feedback directly from the community to refine balance, pacing, and core mechanics.

By launching early, we can test new systems in real-time, identify what resonates most with players, and ensure that the final release delivers the tense, atmospheric experience we’re striving for.

Our goal is to build Deadlock with the community: from monster design and environmental storytelling to difficulty tuning and world-building details. Early Access ensures that every update brings Deadlock closer to the best possible version of itself.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Deadlock is expected to remain in Early Access for approximately 12–18 months.

Our focus isn’t on hitting a strict deadline, but on delivering the most complete and polished experience possible. The timeline depends heavily on community feedback, development progress, and the scope of new content we build together.

We want to give players the time to shape the world, influence design, and refine mechanics with us. Early Access will continue until Deadlock feels fully realized — and that means we’ll stay in it as long as it takes to get it right.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Deadlock is planned to expand on every part of the Early Access foundation. Our vision includes:

A larger, more interconnected world with new districts, interiors, and hidden areas to explore.

Additional enemy types and boss encounters that deepen the survival horror experience.

Expanded story content and narrative layers, giving players more insight into the mysteries of Deadlock’s world.

Refined gameplay systems, including combat balance, resource management, and environmental interactions.

Quality of life improvements and polish based on community feedback.

The ultimate goal is to evolve Deadlock into a dense, atmospheric survival horror experience with greater variety, depth, and replayability than the Early Access version.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Deadlock already contains the core survival horror experience. Players can explore a portion of the city streets, investigate key interiors, and face a variety of hostile creatures. Essential mechanics such as combat, inventory management, exploration, and environmental storytelling are in place, giving a strong sense of the game’s intended atmosphere and tension.

While the current content represents only part of the larger vision, it is fully playable and designed to showcase the tone, mechanics, and world of Deadlock. Players should expect a challenging, atmospheric survival experience that will continue to grow in scope and detail throughout Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The price of Deadlock will increase as the game grows in scope and content. Early Access is intended as a way to support development at a lower entry point, while those who join later — once more features, areas, and content are added — can expect a higher price to reflect the expanded experience.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is at the core of Deadlock’s Early Access. We want players to help shape the game by sharing their experiences, ideas, and critiques. This input will guide how we refine balance, adjust difficulty, expand content, and improve quality of life features.

We’ll be actively listening through Steam discussions, social media, and community channels, regularly gathering feedback to inform development priorities. Players will also be updated with development notes, patch details, and sneak peeks of upcoming content so they can see how their input directly influences the game’s evolution.

Deadlock is meant to be built with the community — Early Access is our way of ensuring player voices are part of its DNA.

You can join the development discussions via our discord, and help shape the world of Deadlock Protocol. ”

About This Game

The night the Deadlock Protocol was triggered, Ravenwood became a cage. Now the small Appalachian town is overrun by horrors born from the Ashen Virus — twisted mutations of the people who once lived here. The city gates are sealed. No one gets in. No one gets out.

You are Jim, an ordinary man trapped in Ravenwood when the outbreak erupts. Armed with whatever you can scavenge, you’ll fight to survive the night — through blood-soaked motels, barricaded churches, abandoned police stations, and the hidden laboratories that birthed the nightmare.

Deadlock is a 2.5D top-down survival horror inspired by the classics but built for a modern audience:

  • Scavenge & Survive – manage scarce ammo, craft makeshift weapons, and decide when to fight or run.

  • Face the Infected – from shambling corpses to grotesque mutations like The Maw and Bone Spear Mutant, every encounter could be your last.

  • Explore Ravenwood – a seamless open-world map filled with motels, churches, police stations, mines, and secret labs. Every location hides supplies… or something far worse.

  • Uncover the Truth – piece together Project Ashen, a conspiracy that turned a town into ground zero.

The gates of Ravenwood are closed. Your only choice is to fight, adapt, and escape — before the city buries its secrets with you.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Deadlock contains graphic violence, gore, partial nudity, and intense horror themes consistent with a survival-horror experience.

Players will encounter hostile creatures and human enemies that may display blood, exposed wounds, dismemberment, and disturbing visual designs. Some enemy designs or environmental elements may include partial nudity presented in a non-sexual context, typical of horror or mutated character designs.

Combat involves the use of firearms and melee weapons. The game also includes dark and unsettling themes, psychological horror elements, and environmental storytelling that may be disturbing to some players.

There is no sexual content and no sexualized violence. Profanity may appear in limited dialogue or environmental text.

Deadlock is intended for a mature audience and may not be suitable for younger players or players sensitive to horror, violence, or graphic imagery.
