„The core of the game is ready: you can drop in, mine for Space Coal, and fight to stay alive until the extraction arrives. But the challenge of building a multiplayer experience is in the balance and long-term fun of the game. We have so many ideas on how to continue from where we currently stand, but we would much rather have players like yourself help us understand what you think is important.

We've decided to launch in Early Access because we want to see how real players handle the heat. Data from your sessions will tell us if a contract is too tough, if a weapon is too weak, or if the rewards aren't worth the risk. We want to build the final part of Rockhounds with the players who are actually down in the dirt with us.”

„We expect to be in Early Access for 6 to 12 months.”

„The biggest difference between the Early Access version and the 1.0 version we're working towards will be the addition of new content in the form of mission types, side-objectives, environments with biomes, new types of creatures and enemies, additional weapons, items, abilities and buildables to use during your missions.

We also plan to add meta progression, resulting in more long-term goals for you to pursue. These will be built around the Megacorps, who will provide players with challenges to complete in return for exclusive rewards.

We plan to create and regularly update a development roadmap to ensure our goals and activities remain transparent to our community. Last but definitely not least we, expect to optimize performance, localize to different languages and add nice-to-have features such as achievements.”

„Everything listed in the "About This Game" section of the store page is present when Rockhounds launches in Early Access. We don't have the budget to get a professional QA team to review Rockhounds, so the game might be rough around the edges.”

We plan to share regular updates on what we’re changing based on your reports. Whether it’s a bug you found during extraction or a weapon idea that fits the Rockhounds vibe, we want to hear it. The best way to get involved is to join our Discord and tell us what’s working and what’s just getting in the way of the grind.”

WELCOME TO THE ROCKHOUNDS

Rockhounds is a 1-4 player co-op extraction ARPG featuring ruthless mercenaries, volatile planets, and the galaxy’s greediest Megacorps. You are a Rockhound: a merc hired to raid dangerous worlds for the universe's most absurdly valuable fuel: Space Coal.

As the Megacorps grow hungrier for profit, they’ll pay anything to secure their stash, even if it means sending you into the most hostile environments ever discovered. While the rest of humanity falls apart, you’re busy with the only thing that matters: Getting rich.

EVERY DAY IS A PAYDAY

In Rockhounds, no two drops are ever the same. Every mission is a fresh contract with new dangers to survive, alien worlds to strip-mine, and a massive paycheck waiting at the end.

  • Ever-Changing Worlds - Raid strange biomes, survive extreme weather, and overcome deadly anomalies. You’ll have to strategize and adapt to be successful (and make it out alive).

  • The Space Coal Rush - Mine for the universe’s most absurdly valuable resource. The more you mine, the more you earn, but the noise will bring everything from hungry creatures to rival enemy forces straight to your door.

  • Guns, lots of guns - Use your hard-earned money to buy the latest weapons and gear from the Megacorp catalog. If you're going to risk your life, you might as well do it with the biggest guns available.

HOW TO GET PAID

The drop is just the beginning. The Megacorps sent you in for one reason: to get that coal into orbit. You’ll need to work fast, build smart, and decide exactly how much your life is worth.

  • Start grabbing surface-ores immediately. They are used for building, and you’ll need every scrap you can find to turn a derelict mining rig into a fortress before the first wave hits.

  • Don't just rely on your gun. Use resources to deploy walls, turrets, and traps. Coordinate with your squad to turn the rig into a kill zone, because when the enemies arrive, there’s no room for mistakes.

  • As the mission heats up, the rig will take a beating. You’ll have to leave the safety of your walls to make repairs or complete high-risk side-objectives. It’s dangerous, but it’s a great way to boost your yield.

  • Once the silo is full, you have a choice. Launch it into orbit and call it a day, or keep digging for more. Greed is a dangerous game, one wrong move and you lose the entire haul.

  • Securing the Space Coal is only half the battle. As the planet literally falls apart around you, you must hold your ground until the airlift arrives. You won't get to spend a single credit unless you make it back onto your ship alive.

We are a small team building an ambitious world on an indie budget. To bring Rockhounds to life, we utilize generative AI as a tool (Just like we use Photoshop, Blender or the Unity Engine) to assist and help us build, not replace, our creative process.

Ideation & Concepting: We use AI to help us brainstorm and visualize complex environments. This allows us to explore a wider range of ideas before our artists move into final production.

In-Game Assets: Some assets, were created with the help of generative AI. Every one of these assets is then manually refined and edited by our team to ensure it fits our vision.
