Battlesail is a turn-based action strategy game set in the Golden Age of Piracy.

You begin your journey in the Caribbean as an inexperienced captain with a single, battered ship. Through battles, plunder, and hard choices, you will rise to become the terror of the seas. You raid wealthy port cities overflowing with rum and rare spices, clash with colonial powers and rival pirates, survive violent storms, evade sea monsters, and endure betrayal and defeat—only to rise again.

Game Modes

Battlesail features two main game modes - story campaign and free play:

The story campaign takes you to the sun-soaked Caribbean, following your hero’s rise from a greenhorn sailor to a hardened pirate captain. Fight through 30+ handcrafted missions, search for treasure islands, experience dramatic rises and crushing falls, and push forward toward ultimate victory.

Free Play offers arena battles and puzzle challenges. In arenas, you test your strength against powerful opponents, with multiple paths leading to victory. Puzzles focus on tactical thinking—reach your objective as efficiently and quickly as possible.

Main Character

The game begins with choosing your own character—a captain whose destiny is in your hands and who will accompany you throughout the entire campaign.

Fleet

You will encounter a wide range of ships (30+ total), most of which can be added to your fleet. Ships differ not only in size—four distinct size classes, from small boats to massive warships—but also in purpose. Choose between ships specialized in speed, offense, defense, or repairs.

Upgrades

Every ship can be upgraded in numerous ways. Improve the hull, armor, firing accuracy, maneuverability, or hire specialized crews that push your ship’s capabilities even further.

Arsenal

And of course—the most important part: the arsenal. From small deck-mounted falconets to massive Long Nine cannons, floating mines with different effects, and special ammunition including incendiary, chain, and explosive shots.

Abilities

With every battle your ships survive, they grow stronger—and unlock new special abilities. Each ship class has its own unique set of abilities: vanish in a cloud of smoke, repair damage with mass healing, protect allies with damage reduction, or unleash devastating weapons of mass destruction like mortars.

Captains

Great ships deserve seasoned captains. You can hire captains of varying levels, each granting unique bonuses to your ships. These hardened sea dogs will also accompany you in battle with their humor and advice.

Environment

Your enemies are not only other fleets—the sea itself is full of dangers. Navigate through dense kelp fields, sharp reefs, sharpened stakes near native villages, treacherous whirlpools, and other natural hazards. Add dynamic weather into the mix, and no battle is ever the same.

Ship Customization

Make your fleet the most beautiful on the seas. Spend diamonds to unlock colorful sails, emblems, flags, and other cosmetic upgrades.

Treasure Hunt

Every level may hide a valuable chest filled with precious gems, allowing you to customize your ships’ appearance. You will also collect fragments of ancient maps—once assembled, they lead to Treasure Islands hiding artifacts of immense value.
