What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Since Queen's Cards is a card-based defense game, finding the best balance, adding more cards, offering players more content and maps, might take some additional time even after the game is technically complete. For Queen's Cards to provide the best experience, it may need to be played and reviewed by players. Especially in games like this, where there are many adjustable parameters (economy values, game difficulty, card costs, card strengths, ally and enemy AI values, tower values), fine-tuning these parameters to make the game most enjoyable for players may take some more time.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We’re planning for a period of up to 3 months at most.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“New cards, new enemy types, new maps, and a more balanced gameplay experience. We also aim to improve the AI of both enemy and ally characters and add more content related to them. And of course, there will be visual improvements as well. These visual improvements will include general enhancements such as maps, characters, UI, and lighting.

In short, our goal is to build on the existing mechanics by adding more content and delivering a more enjoyable and engaging gameplay experience. We also want to optimize the game as much as possible for lower-end systems.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game currently features 4 maps, 40 cards across 4 main categories, and 25 passive upgrades. There are also various types of enemy and ally characters. In the current state of the game, different enemy types have mechanics such as directly attacking the player's tower or targeting friendly units that block their path.

Most towers and soldier units are mechanically complete. Passive upgrades and skill cards are fully functional. The economy and difficulty scaling systems are implemented and working, though there’s still room for improvement.

The effects for currently available skills and attacks are ready, and the UI mechanics and a base economy balance are in place. However, since this is a tower defense game, achieving solid gameplay and economy balance is crucial and with your feedback and support, we aim to make significant improvements in these areas.

You can also check the "About This" section of the game to get more information about its core gameplay, mechanics, and some of its content.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We’re planning a gradual increase based on the quality and quantity of the added content.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Since this is a defense game, feedback from the community and players will be extremely important to us. We're especially open to suggestions regarding new cards, towers, and character types. We will also take all feedback related to game and economy balance very seriously.”

About This Game

Queen's Cards is a satisfying roguelike deck-building defense game where you defend your territory using passive and active cards.

Gameplay Styles
While playing Queen's Cards, you can choose your preferred playstyle. You can strengthen your economy to plan ahead, rely on your soldiers to build your deck accordingly, prioritize tower defense, or focus more on spells.

Deck Building
Queen's Cards gives you 3 cards at the end of each wave. Additionally, a store screen opens. The cards in the store are updated after each turn. Here, you select passive cards to determine your playstyle and unlock permanent buffs. By combining these permanent buffs, you can deal incredibly satisfying damage.

Building Your Territory
Building towers and structures in your territory is a great way to defend. The game provides you with specific areas to build, and you strategically decide which builds to create in these areas.

Tower Enhancements
Some of the towers you build have skill trees. This allows you to grant unique skills to those towers. Additionally, with your passive card deck, you can equip towers with amazing skills and combos.

Economy Management
To take advantage of opportunities in the store at the end of each turn and to draw or destroy cards when you're struggling during the game, you'll need plenty of gold. Therefore, managing your economy is crucial.
