What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Pixel Soccer is being developed by a small 2 person team, because of this it is important for us to reach out to gamers and build our community early in the development of the game. Steam Early Access is the perfect platform for this.

We want to get as much feedback as possible from our community, because for us this is about making the best game that YOU want to play.

Lets make Pixel Soccer a great game together!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are planning to be in Early Access for 6-8 months. This should give us enough time to implement all our planned features as well as those suggested by our community.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“While we have the foundation of our game at Early Access launch, there are many currently-planned features and content additions we will be adding during period from Early Access.

Planned Core Features are...
- Player editor, create custom player and kit designs
- Team editor, create custom team badges, kits, playing squad
- Competition editor, create custom cups, leagues and tournaments
- Career, play multiple seasons, contracts, transfers, injuries etc
- On-line/LAN multiplayer

As well as improving current features, bug fixes, testing and performance improvements!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The match engine is playable and about 50% complete. Friendly mode with a choice of 30 teams. XBOX Game-pad controller and Keyboard controls. Local multi-player (same machine) for up to 4 players. Animated crowds, substitutes and managers.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the game will be cheaper during Early Access. This is to reflect that Pixel Soccer is still in development and to make it easier for people to join us and help make Pixel Soccer a great game!.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will have a Trello roadmap () at Early Access launch, as well as constantly being on the Steam Forum to gather ideas, feedback and issues. We will also be updating the EA community on development progress and gathering feedback on Twitter (), Facebook (), Reddit (coming soon) and posting video updates to YouTube ()”

About This Game

Pixel Soccer is a top down, pixel art, soccer game inspired by retro soccer games from the 90's.

Although soccer games nowadays are getting more and more realistic, the old pixelated soccer games still appeal to us in a way we find hard to describe. Its that feeling of nostalgia that takes you back to the days of your youth, where endless hours were spent guiding your favourite team through match after match, on your quest to secure the league title.

Don't get us wrong, we do appreciate what new technology has brought to soccer games such as FIFA and PES. Accurate player kits, player faces and in-depth player and tactical behaviours all enhance the game experience. But these games have also become too realistic and lack something that the older generation 8-bit soccer games had. A mix of character, fun and imagination.

What if we could create a game that had a similar 8bit "look and feel" to the golden soccer gaming era but at the same time took advantage of advances in technology. Like recreating individual player characteristics and offering more depth in player animations.

That's exactly what we want to achieve with Pixel Soccer. We are soccer fans like you. We are computer game fans like you. We want to build a game that feels like the soccer games of our childhood and for that we need your help.
