Why Early Access?

“Soccer Legends is an unusual cross-over between the sports and turn-based strategy genres that would benefit a lot from feedback early in the process. We've got a pretty solid idea of what we'd like the game to feel like, but can't be sure the game as we have it in mind would be enjoyed by the audience. We'd like to receive feedback as soon as the different modes of play go live, so we know what we're in for & can make adjustments before we finalise the process.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately three, to at most six months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“As discussed with you guys previously, we intend to do a tiered release. The first version would contain the main gameplay mode, after which we add the second gameplay mode and later the player customisation elements and (a whole lot of) polish.

First version: Turn-based strategy soccer match mode, fully playable with 90% of intended mode features.
Second version: Manager mode, allows you to manage your soccer team throughout the yearly competitions, fully playable with 90% of intended mode features.
Third version: Player mode, allows you to customise the players on your team; Plus polishing & finalising features.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The first and foremost gameplay mode is as good as finished and ready to go. We'd launch the turn-based strategy soccer match mode by itself, fully playable with most of the features implemented, and update/polish this as we go.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, as previously discussed. The first/early access version will be 'cheap', as it only contains approximately 40% of the final content of the game; After the second version becomes available, this price will go up and reflect the fact that approx. 80% of the content will then be available. By the time the third and last version goes up, the price will be finalised to match the 100% content pricing as well.

The amount of available content is reflected in the pricing system and goes up linearly.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“For now, we're mostly interested in polling player interest for our game, and want to see what the general response is to a title like ours. For a soccer game, we could come up with a lot of ways to incorporate the community, but we haven't had that much actual in-depth feedback to go by just yet and have therefore yet to brainstorm community activities.

Ideally, we'd like to use their feedback as we progress through Early Access, and polish the game according to what the data shows us -- which modes are people playing, what characters are they using, do they enjoy the competition and team management mode, and as such, tune the game to be the best it can be.

General ideas we have involve player competitions/tournaments and possibly some early access rewards for early on-boarders.”
