What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We chose Early Access because we want to work hand-in-hand with the community to shape the future of Scavland. While we have a clear vision and a solid foundation, we believe that the best way to bring Scavland to life is by listening to the players who experience it firsthand. Early Access allows us to gather feedback, prioritize the most impactful features, and deliver the right updates at the right time.

Additionally, this approach helps us secure the resources needed to grow our studio and develop Scavland to its fullest potential. As our flagship IP, Scavland represents not just a game but the foundation of our studio’s future. By supporting us early, you’re not only helping shape the game but also contributing to the sustainability and growth of a passionate team dedicated to delivering an unforgettable experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate that Scavland will be in Early Access for roughly 12 to 24 months. However, this timeline depends largely on community feedback and the scale of new features and content we prioritize together. Our focus is on quality and ensuring that every aspect of the game meets both our standards and your expectations, rather than rushing toward a release date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Scavland is planned to expand significantly on the foundation built during Early Access, with the goal of delivering a deeper, more immersive experience. While development is ongoing and plans may evolve, our current vision includes:

Procedural Bunkers:
We’re exploring the possibility of adding hidden bunker entrances scattered throughout the wasteland. These would feature procedurally generated interiors, aiming to make every exploration feel fresh and unpredictable — with varied layouts, loot, and encounters.

Faction Reputation System:
We’re working on a system where your choices and actions could influence how different factions respond to you. Reputation would be affected by quests, objectives, and events, shaping how the world reacts to your presence and decisions.

Co-op Gameplay (Concept Stage):
A local co-op mode is something we’re excited to explore. The idea is to allow players to team up and survive together — sharing resources, risks, and the story. This feature is still in early concept and subject to change.

Beyond these features, we’re also planning improvements to content variety, performance, visual polish, and overall quality-of-life. With community feedback and continued support, Scavland is intended to evolve into a rich, reactive world built on survival, strategy, and player choice.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Scavland offers a solid foundation of the core experience, including scavenging, exploration, combat, and a basic progression system. Players can expect a playable and engaging experience, though there are areas where we’ll need to polish and expand as we go. Some features may still be in development or have placeholder elements, but we’re actively working to improve and expand the game with regular updates informed by community feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, the price of Scavland will remain consistent from Early Access through to full release, with the exception of seasonal discounts. We believe in providing fair value to all players.

Early adopters are the foundation of our journey. Your support and feedback help us shape the world of Scavland and create a solid, unforgettable game together. By joining us early, you’re not just playing—you’re actively contributing to the vision and evolution of our flagship project.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We believe that Scavland is as much the community’s game as it is ours. To ensure everyone’s voice is heard, we’ll stay fully connected and engaged through Discord, forums, and social media. Our team is committed to listening to all feedback—whether it’s constructive criticism, suggestions, or new ideas.

We’ll prioritize community input by shaping our development roadmap based on the most-requested features and changes. To make the process even more inclusive, we’ll share this roadmap publicly and allow players to vote on the priorities they feel are most important. This way, Scavland grows in a direction that truly resonates with the people playing it.”

About This Game

Scavland is a hardcore survival game, set in a society ravaged by war and the mysterious Mist. Stalk the wastes as a Vulture – a scrappy but resourceful scavenger, eking out a miserable living through exploration and combat. Can you break out of this cycle?

Survival is top priority: all else comes after. Mutants and bandits attack on sight, radiation and Mist creep into your body from all angles... Every trek to a secure area poses danger, so you will make slow progress while adapting to the game’s systems. Scraping by is one thing; really *thriving* will take you a while.

STRUGGLE IN A BROKEN WORLD

This world is relentless against the weak. You are among the lowest of the low in this new and broken social order; learn your trade as a Vulture and make a name for yourself before the Mist takes over everything.

  • Be Methodical

Ammunition is scarce, any weapon can jam, and enemies are ruthless. Take things slow and approach every encounter with care – no use surviving a pack of enemies just to be left with no resources against the next.

  • Uncover Secrets

There are many unexplored spots spread throughout the region: bunkers, ruins from the times of war, mutant-infested forests and deceitful swamps. The remaining roads are relatively safe to travel – but off the beaten path lie the greatest treasures…

  • Trade, Work, Survive

The goods you scavenge can be traded, but you can also take contracts to bring in specific items for better rewards. Use this to improve your inventory little by little, and remember: pay attention to people’s needs. Small favors can go a long way.

GET INVOLVED

Explore Zalesye, a struggling community destroyed by war and the Mist. Encounter many factions and NPCs who give you quests while defending their own worldview. Some want to guide society towards better days – some are just looking after themselves. Who will you side with?

  • Factions

The town has a number of factions that help it function at a basic level: the ruthless Gunners, the enigmatic Mudlarks, the organizers of the Rada, and many more. Each has their own place in this fragile social fabric, and you must make one for yourself.

  • Enemies and Hazards

Terrifying Mutants borne from animals, humans and even vegetation roam the lands; desperate Bandits prey on lone targets such as yourself; and both the radiation and the Mist are rampant, intangible forces that insidiously drag you towards death.

  • You Are Not Alone

The life of a Vulture may be lonely, but help can always be found in some way. Talk to NPCs to get hints, favors and answers about the mysteries of this world and its terrible state – and remember: no one ever truly makes it by themselves.

QUESTS AND STORY

Progress through a personal story that sets you up to explore. You have been near-fatally shot by a mysterious scavenger from the mythical lands of the East. What answers could your hunter have about the true nature of the Mist?

  • The Mist

An unknowable substance taking the form of a thick fog, which encroaches upon any corpses it finds; touching it messes with one’s body and mind in unexpected ways. Its mysteries are intrinsically tied to why you’re still here, in this godforsaken town…

  • The East

Rumors and superstition are common in Zalesye; folks tell of a promised land in the East where there is no Mist and no danger. Your purpose is to finally make it out of the town – through the dangerous RO-29 Highway – and see this paradise for yourself.

  • Sidequests / Task System

Some NPCs have special quests attached, which spring up organically from advancing the story or finding certain items. In addition, there is a procedural Task-generating system – smaller quests that help with player progression and replayability.

PLANNED EXPANSIONS

We’ll continue working on the game to fully realize the lived-in world of Scavland. We have a few directions to take the story and setting in, which will provide plenty of fresh gameplay.

  • New Areas

Would you like to cross Lake Pavlie and see the ghost town on the other side of the Svarog Factories? How about venturing South, into the reaches of a Threshold – one of the birthplaces of the Mist which sucks the life out of the whole Continent?

  • New Factions and Relationship System

We’ll expand the existing map with new factions that complement the ones we already have. Pilgrims who oppose the current Church, merchant caravans from far-off places – and perhaps a new group of “Vultures”, but with very peculiar customs…

  • A Unique Story

The mysteries of the Mist and its interactions with space and time leave plenty of room for more stories. Whether we focus on the impossible sounds of the Great Trains, or on a great conflict between violent factions, there’ll still be plenty to do in Zalesye.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

This game includes mild depictions of violence and strong language. Players will encounter simple dismemberment of creatures, blood splatter when shooting enemies, and occasional swearing during combat or dialogue with NPCs. There are no depictions of sexual content, drug use, or self-harm in the game.
