It's 1992 and the world is screaming for change. So you made the leap and moved to Emerald City. Now it's time to Take That Mainstage! In this hybrid genre life sim/crafting/strategy/rhythm game, you'll have one year to reach the top. It's up to you to recruit your perfect band, write music that moves people, conversation battle with your friends & enemies to collect lyrics, explore the city and it's mini-games, and battle other bands to reach the top of the charts 🎸

FROM ZERO TO GUITAR HERO

Design your ultimate rockstar. Style yourself and then choose your genre from one of four 90's styles including alternative, heavy metal, pop, and rap. Every genre has it's own pros and cons, boosts and debuffs. Do you stay true to your heart or become a sellout chasing trends?

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

You'll decide how you spend every moment of every day. Do you start by turning on the radio first thing to see what's going on in the city? Or do you head to the music store, manage your gear, or sharpen your skills. Explore a living, breathing city where every playthrough features a procedurally generated cast of musicians, fans, and foes. Busk for pocket money, collect inspiration by spending a few hours at the museum, or wine and dine the perfect drummer for your band.

MASTER YOUR CRAFT

Do you want to be a technical guitar wizard, the best on stage performer, or an anti-social songwriter/studio producer with slick radio hits? Grind your skills through interactive practice sessions, earn cash to buy new gear, and hunt down rare chords to unlock complex options for your song crafting. Whether you’re perfecting your stage presence or mastering the mixing board, you determine your path to victory.

WEAPONIZE YOUR CONVERSATIONS

In Emerald City, talk isn't cheap — it's the inspiration you'll use as your song lyrics. Engage in high-stakes "Conversation Battles" to uncover secrets, moods, and thoughts from the city’s people. Every character maintains a dynamic diary of hundreds of thoughts based on their unique personality and daily moments. You'll need to manage your relationships well to unlock the most valuable of their secrets. The way you treat them will affect their responses, but also how they feel about you. Make them angry, you'll get angry thoughts. That's great for writing angry

songs, but maybe not so great for keeping friends.

ANYONE CAN WRITE A HIT SONG IN TAKE THAT MAINSTAGE!

Write real music you'll perform in the rhythm competitions with a powerful, intuitive drag-and-drop song crafter. No music required! Mix genres, select your gear, and write the lyrics using thoughts you've acquired from conversations. Follow the trends to make a quick buck, or defy the status quo to start a new movement. Once the track is finished, it’s time to take it to the stage and see if the crowd is moved by your art.

REHEARSE, REHEARSE, REHEARSE

There's no shortcuts to greatness. You'll have to make sure your band gets your vision or there will be trouble. Every legendary band has a leader. If you want to change the world, make the difficult choices you'll have to make.

Battling other Bands isn't just about playing the right notes - it's psychological warfare. Read the room and adjust your set list on the fly to match the audience’s mood. While your rivals are on stage, don't just sit back: mingle with the fans, tune your gear, or swap out your stage decorations to steal the spotlight. Remember, there' more than one way to the top.
