What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Game is unfinished. The game was originally planned to fully release on the release data (april 16), but due to large scope and development delays it's completely unfeasible to fully release on time. Because of that, I decided to release with early access. My Early Access build is a foundation—a working game engine with basic systems in place—but it’s far from the complete experience I envision. At this stage, the content is intentionally minimal as I focus on establishing the core mechanics and structure of the game. My hope with early access is that player feedback can drive the addition of new content as the game goes from an empty shell to a proper full game experience. Even then, it's very likely new systems and mechanics will have to be added to satisfy the large content needs. This is a roguelike after all, so there needs to be a very large amount of content (new blocks, machines, items, etcs) to make sure every playthrough is unique, and the game also lacks an ending, which will hopefully be worked out during early access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“2-8 months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“My goal is to further develop the game by refining its core systems, expanding content, and potentially introducing new gameplay mechanics. I plan to feature a proper ending, many new blocks, items, and contract, and possibly new systems and mechanics.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Beta. Quite unfinished and still needing work, but still playable and enjoyable. The game has the base mechanics in place, but needs more polish and content. Currently, the game has about 4 rounds worth of playable content, an electricity system and a handfull of electric blocks, about 45 blocks in general, a working shop and a system for getting contracts to progress rounds. My store's about this page has more information about the current state of content.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. Game will 100% be free in early access, and will likely go paid once released, but might stay free.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I hope to use community for playtesting and feedback. If people show interest in mods or making content, I hope to bring them on to help out. Game will be free for all early access, and possibly on launch.”

About This Game

Amozon Extraplanetary Colonization Program is a game I'm developing for my senior thesis. It is meant to be a roguelike take on the factory builder genre. You might be asking how it works to be roguelike? Well, there is no crafting for one. Instead, you earn money by completing contracts, and spend money to buy your block from a shop, earning more offers as you go. Each contract is a request to produce a certain amount of 2-4 different materials, with early contracts just asking for raw materials, but later contracts requiring complex components with more involved crafting methods. The game is still in development and is in early access.

Features:

  • 4 unique playable character

  • over 45 unique blocks and factory components

  • 60+ items to collect or sell

  • A procedurally generated world that keeps each run unique

  • A randomly generated shop with multiple tiers of offers that provides you with new building blocks for your ever growing factory
