What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Due to the explicit level of player agency in Warped Universe, significant testing needs to be done in the Early Access of Season Zero to fine-tune game balance. Also, with Warped Universe’s unprecedented combination of gameplay, extended balance time is needed to get itemization correct across all gameplay genres.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“While the exact duration of our extensive balance pass is uncertain, we estimate that Warped Universe will remain in Early Access for approximately 6 to 12 months. Season Zero will go through multiple iterations as we refine key systems, including Random Map Systems, Itemization, Stat Balance, and Multiplayer gameplay across all game modes.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Warped Universe is designed as an ever-evolving ecosystem, where the state of the universe is continually shaped by player choices and actions.
Season Zero marks the beginning of this journey, and the systems and mechanics we explore during Early Access will help guide on-going development. We plan to continually refine and expand Warped Universe through updates, introducing new features and mechanics based on player feedback and ongoing iteration.
With our multi-genre approach to gaming and commitment to player agency, we aim to expand gameplay possibilities over time, offering players even more ways to experience Warped Universe.

With our multi-genre approach to gaming and our commitment to player agency, our ultimate goal is to add more game genres over time, giving players even more choice in how they experience the Warped Universe.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version features a full introductory mission that takes the player through all four gameplay genres, action and turn-based, on the ground and in space and leads the player to a social and mission hub, called Nexus Station. On Nexus Station there is a map system and portal where players can warp to planets to complete various combat and non-combat missions.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Warped Universe will be free-to-play once the game is out of Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We actively monitor and engage on all of our social media pages and hold regular Warped Talk Q+As on Discord and YouTube, where developers share updates and show recent progress, giving the community an opportunity to give direct feedback about anything and everything Warped Universe.

Being a part of the Warped Games Discord channel is the best way for players and community members to get in touch with developers. We’re a global team and always have team members online ready to answer questions and take feedback.”

About This Game

The Oracle’s Call

Reality fractures at the edge of the Warped Universe, a dreamlike cosmos where time twists, landscapes shift, and the balance of light and gravity determines all.

Summoned by the Oracle, an enigmatic AI from a lost age, you are chosen to restore order to a collapsed universe. Align with the Luminaries, expanding the unknown through radiant light, and the Foundationalists, bending gravity to forge stability. Your choices shape the battlefield, warping physics, altering environments, and shifting the course of existence itself.

But beyond the stars, the Void stirs… an ancient force of entropy that seeks to erase all.

Space at Your Pace

Warped Universe offers a blend of real-time action and turn-based strategy, allowing players to choose their preferred gameplay style for each mission. Enjoy seamless transitions between both genres, with shared weapons, skills, and mechanics.

Real-Time Action

Real-time action delivers fast-paced, third-person combat, perfect for players who thrive on quick reflexes. Jump into the action and let your instincts guide you.

Make the moment matter.

Turn-Based Strategy

Turn-based strategy offers a top-down game style, ideal for those who prefer a more tactical approach. Plan your moves carefully. Every turn counts.

On the Ground or in Space

Engage in intense combat planetside on open ground or in towering facilities, or take to the vast expanse of space for high-flying battles. Maneuver through tight corridors or navigate the stars, every mission is dynamic and full of opportunity.

Unified Combat System

Every attack–in both real-time and turn-based modes–follows the same underlying mechanics. Each hit is determined by a dice roll for balanced and consistent gameplay.

Nexus Station

The Nexus Station is the central hub for players in Warped Universe, functioning as a vibrant social, strategic, and operational base. Within the station, players will find a variety of features that enhance both gameplay and interaction. The real-time 3D solar system map allows players to track planetary progress, monitor operational facilities, and scout for regions of space to expand the Oracle’s reach.

Workstations throughout the station allow players to acquire new equipment, apply cosmetics, and add upgrades to enhance their arsenal in preparation for what lurks beyond.

Different Paths, Leading to a Singular Goal

Align with the Luminaries and Foundationalists to harness the powers of light and gravity.

Though distinct in their ideologies and approaches, both factions remain united in their ultimate goal: to navigate the challenges of the Warped Universe and forge a path forward for all its diverse inhabitants.

Seasonal Solar Systems

In Warped Universe, seasonal gameplay will keep the experience fresh and ever-changing. As players complete missions and collect Residuum, they’ll construct new planets and establish various facilities to unlock technologies, all while defending their creations from the Void’s relentless threat.

Each season introduces new solar systems, missions, and technology to explore with lore updates that bring new environments, combatants, and cosmetics.
