What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The Early Access tag is less to indicate an unfinished alpha build, and more to communicate the game's update format, which is similar to that of releasing the next chapter of a book.
Every few months new content is added, which sees continuations to the many plotlines available in the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Until all of the content in the game is wrapped up and concluded properly.
Because of the open/non-linear nature of the game, as well as the frequent addition of completely new storylines, this time will probably easily exceed 3 years.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to have more story scenes, battles, cards, items, and likely new characters, storylines and activities/minigames.
In addition, the balancing of various aspects such as drop rates, card acquisition and various battle stats may also be different.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All of the features mentioned in the "About" section are already finished and fully playable. In its current state, the game is largely similar to how it will look and play in the final version, with future updates mainly focused on adding new content and storylines. Currently, reaching the end of a storyline simply means there are no more new events to trigger.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game is free and will remain free even after it is fully completed.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Suggestions and feedback regarding game balance, new features, character storylines, etc. are all welcome to be sent to the various social media places and contacts listed in the in-game Credits screen.”

About This Game

This is an adult game with very explicit kink content targeted towards a niche demographic.

Cards of Gluttony is a gay, role-playing card game centered around themes of weight gain. With a heavy focus on narrative, the game is built around an extensive deck-building mechanic and a large cast of characters, each with their own storyline.

One day, you find yourself stranded in a small town named Plursdott, and a chance encounter ends up getting you involved in the strange phenomenon plaguing its citizens... "The Fattening".

This strange ability, that only a seemingly random few have awakened to, allows them to make people rapidly gain unbelievable amounts of weight in the blink of an eye.

Spend time in Plursdott by engaging in a variety of activities and minigames as you meet both new foes and allies, in attempt to unravel the secrets of The Fattening.

There are no nameless, grindable mobs in Cards of Gluttony. Only people with actual names and their own slew of life problems to worry about.

Befriend and get to know the various citizens of Plursdott as you follow their independent storylines and make decisions, ranging from small details like defining who you are as a person, to significant story-altering choices that can lead to unique scenes.

Customize the fully hand-drawn player character with various facial features, such as eye shape, eyebrows, nose and mouth. Pop in to the barbershop for a fresh new haircut, or pick out the perfect beard using the modular facial hair system that allows for hundreds of combinations.

Design the perfect outfit using a combination of a top and bottom piece, accompanied by accessories such as hats and glasses, all of which are customizable using colors from a wide palette of options.

Despite its kink-centric and erotic nature, the core of the game is driven by a surprisingly deep deck-building mechanic.

With an ever-growing collection of cards, all of them feature unique effects suited for different purposes, such as offensive, defensive, utility, and even triggered effects which can activate each other and create chain reactions.

Build multiple diverse decks, each suited for a different situation, opponent and playstyle, all of which you can edit, swap out and equip at nearly any time.

Unlock and obtain new cards to add to your repertoire as you progress through various storylines: either through battle, minigames, or through a crafting system that grows bigger and bigger the more opponents you face.

The story goes on even if you lose! Nearly every battle features alternate paths for whether you win or lose. In fact, throughout your journey, you will run into many sudden and unexpected encounters that are likely to lead to defeat.

Players are not only encouraged to see these routes through for extra replayability, but might even find themselves rewarded with alternate items, cards and story revelations.

With a story written specifically for gay men, nearly every character in the game is queer in one way or another. Throughout your hi-jinks across Plursdott, you will run into many different encounters: not only platonic, but also romantic and even explicitly sexual ones.

Because the game doesn't shy away from heavy topics or more niche kinks, there is a list of content warnings included in the title screen, as well as extensive content toggles for both sexual and non-sexual themes featured in the game. That way, you can disable themes you don't like, or in case of scenes that are integral to the story: get a warning with a description of what you are about to see.
